What you’ll be doing...

This position will be primarily dedicated to securing offnet IXC (Interexchange Carrier) leases when needed to complete the path of an internal or customer requirement. This will involve soliciting vendors serving that area to determine if they can support it and at what cost. When the order goes firm, the engineer will prepare the offnet order and send it to the vendor following up regularly to get LOA/CFA (Letter of Authority and Carrier Facility Assignment) and FOCs (Firm Order Commitment) in a timely manner. The engineer will also be responsible for provisioning the path of the circuit in Verizon provisioning databases and entering orders in various databases to complete that design. In addition, the engineer will be responsible for auditing the existing inventory to identify potential disconnect opportunities for savings. The engineer will prepare any disconnect requests and send them to the vendor as well as process all internal disconnect orders to ensure disconnect of the full path.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in engineering.
  • Previous offnet experience and knowledge.
  • Five or more years in the telecommunications industry with specific work experience.
  • Experience in data bases such as: MECCA, TCOMS (Total Circuit Order Management System), F&E (Facilities and Equipment), and BGW.
  • Experience with LECs (Local Exchange Carriers) and IXC (Interexchange Carriers) vendors would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
  • Ability to use good judgment, make independent decisions and proactively problem solve as needed.
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
