What you’ll be doing...

In this role, you will be part of the Product Engineering Group of Verizon Smart Communities, responsible for supporting scalable integration of edge devices and virtualized devices into the cloud infrastructure. The role includes designing and overseeing device APIs, device security infrastructure and implementing command line tools (C++ / Go). The role includes overseeing the automated build engineering infrastructure development.

You will work closely with product management, engineering management, architects, QA and fellow developers as part of a cross-functional agile team.

Responsibilities

  • Drive device integration into the cloud infrastructure.
  • Function as the technical lead for the automated build engineering infrastructure, NoSQL database APIs, device REST APIs, device security infrastructure, device cmdline tools.
  • Measure and monitor the performance of the device, design and implement improvements.
  • Regularly report / update the status of the tasks in the issue tracking system and to engineering management.
  • Write or update the relevant documentation continuously.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering or relevant field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in Linux networking configuration, TCP/IP, VPN.
  • Strong skills in Linux security / PKI.
  • Experience in REST APIs and cloud (IoT specific) communication protocols (MQTT, MsgPack, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge in C/C++.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced level English (both written and verbal).

Even better if you have:

  • A Master’s degree.
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience.
  • Quality oriented and “can-do” attitude to work.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Experience in source code version control systems (preferably git) and issue tracking systems (preferably JIRA).
  • Experience in NoSQL database technology (redis).
  • Experience in virtualization and the Docker container platform.
  • Implementation skills and experience with Go language tools and services.
  • Experience in custom embedded distributions (Yocto).
  • Experience with third party application distribution platforms (Flatpak).
  • Knowledge of AWS (IoT) technologies.
