What you’ll be doing...

The Network Capital Analysis and Strategic Transformation team is hiring a strategic thinker to join a high profile, high visibility team that powers Network analytics and strategic thinking for Verizon. You will be part of a team that drives business decisions and optimized capital investment for the Verizon Wireless and Wireline Networks. That includes building tools, creating analyses, and discovering insights into our Networks that can be used to optimize our capital plan.

We create actionable operational and strategic insights and visualizations for senior leaders in the company across multiple organizations. You will be part of the team that shapes multibillion-dollar investments for the nation’s largest Network. This is a job for an intelligent, decisive, quick, forward-thinking, strategic, and tactical thought leader. You have exceptional influencing skills and preferred experience working across areas and levels of an organization.

For this role, you will leverage your network understanding and planning experience to inform strategy and modeling design as we further develop our OpEx, CapEx, and resource models and plans. You will be looked to as a collaborative expert that can dive deep into network details and boil down learnings into a shareable, easy to understand format. Time will be spent interfacing with multiple teams throughout Verizon to understand the network’s growth and challenges, internally with our own data scientists and engineers to communicate findings and how to transform that into a business case for modeling value, and sharing insights with executives that will help to visualize our outlook and to plan accordingly based on those forecasts.


  • Collaborate in strategic efforts across the Network organization, leveraging advanced analytics to optimize processes and procedures that lead to improved Network KPIs, capital optimization and cost reduction
  • Translate network plans into resource requirements and models
  • Provide executive-level communication and recommendations on proposed plans / changes to plan and potential impact of such changes.
  • Analyze how emerging technologies will impact the Verizon Network
  • Preparation of internal management reports as a result of ad-hoc analysis requests
  • Make business recommendations (e.g. cost-benefit, forecasting, experiment analysis with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, draw conclusions and relationships and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Train others in the organization on network strategies and performance metrics
  • Become the in-house expert for network & technical modeling questions, including familiarity with next-gen network architecture and applications.
  • Lead the creation of new data processes as identified through industry benchmarking and collaboration with Verizon's data scientist community.
  • Delivering and maintaining a strategic view of network evolution and convergence plans tied to rollout of Verizon’s highest priority network programs. This requires interactions across multiple organizations to identify and document network technology and cost requirements as well as savings
  • Create detailed scenario analyses merging strategic understanding and current program status with hypothetical program changes to understand impact of proposed changes to CapEx / OpEx spend required to support proposed changes.
  • Understand and have a strong grasp of all new technologies (internally and externally driven) and their impacts to Verizon (ie: iEN, 5G, NT, 1F, SDN/NFV, etc)

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in network engineering and large scale network planning.
  • Willingness to travel upto approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, statistics, operations research, industrial engineering, economics, mathematics, physics, orrelated discipline of engineering.
  • Knowledge of predictive modeling tools, machine learning tools (scikit-learn, PyTorch, Spark, TensorFlow, Keras, Theano etc.), and statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods including the ability to analyze large amounts of data between and amongst various systems.
  • Business and technology acumen with knowledge of strategic direction and network topology.
  • Knowledge of Verizon network and domain.
  • Strong project and process management skills and ability to manage multiple competing projects/priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong collaboration, influencing and presentation skills along with written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate data into Executive Presentations in an accurate, clear and concise manner including graphical displays.
  • Ability to distill complex issues quickly, effectively communicate strategies and summarize key points & implications.
  • Ability to grasp and master new technology and respective process changes to assist Executives with knowledge of the current Capex/Opex tied to future spend.
  • Ability to possess high level of curiosity and investigative mind-set with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to embrace unchartered solutions and unafraid to challenge the status-quo.
