What you’ll be doing...

The ideal candidate is a leader with commercial marketing expertise who can define end-to-end consumer wireless value propositions to drive market differentiation for acquisition and revenue growth purposes. The role will operate as a brand manager for the core Verizon consumer wireless business, evaluating needs-based segment opportunities for Verizon and creating solutions to meet those needs across pricing structures, product feature inclusions, 3rd party partner solutions, distribution strategies, market positioning, content, customer care plans, and more. The role will serve as the central strategy hub for how Verizon leads in the mobility market to drive brand affinity and greater lifetime value.

This is a high-impact role given focused on leading the development and evolution of the consumer segment & pricing strategy for the largest consumer wireless company in the US.

Success in this role will requires thought leadership and innovation, as well as very strong financial acumen and matrix organizational management skills. Importantly, the Director of Consumer Macro Segment Marketing will also build, mentor and manage a high-performing segment marketing team.

Position Responsibilities

  • This executive will work to increase Verizon’s brand resonance and revenue opportunities by developing progressive marketing offerings that meet the unique needs of the diverse and shifting customer bases.
  • Define value propositions based on insights and segmentation to breakthrough the US wireless industry. The key objectives are to drive new account and deliver improved lifetime value.
  • Combine marketing thought leadership and an understanding of our capabilities and objectives to support growth targets across Verizon. This will require a blend of financial acumen, strategic analysis, influence management and execution skills to turn data points into actionable plans.
  • Work with consumer insights, analytics, competitive teams, key corporate and divisional stakeholders to clearly highlight opportunities and challenges within the segment.
  • Lead business case development for market and revenue potential, as well as existing customer base implications.
  • Improve ROI from segment marketing activities by defining quantitative metrics to measure and optimize all areas of the function.
  • Identify partner solutions and manage business development for content or feature inclusions.
  • Lead overall market positioning and operational strategy for launching new value props or evolving current market solutions through Verizon operational delivery chain.
  • Own marketing briefing for agency creative development for media campaigns, retail merchandising and digital/social media presence.
  • Develop 6-quarter roadmaps for value proposition launch and modifications to inform integrated marketing plans for the firm.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA and/or technical degree highly desired.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial marketing, value proposition/pricing design and complex portfolio management highly desired
  • 10+ years of innovation strategy, concept development, & experience design spanning the industry’s value chain; Proven track record of marketing ideation and execution
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and will convey a sense of poise and confidence in both formal and informal settings with senior executives, peers and business partners.
  • Manage ambiguity with ease; will make decisions with speed and accuracy; and will champion change in a passionate, convincing manner that elicits broad support.
  • Deep experience developing and executing segment-based strategies to achieve customer growth and accomplish strategic objectives, ideally in a subscription-based business.
  • Ability to drive change and performance in a matrixed, consensus-based organization where successful collaboration and communication are required at all levels.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a complex workload with multiple priorities and tight deadlines with a focus on measuring results and improving performance.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and thrive under pressure.
  • Ability to drive results at all levels, regardless of reporting structures.
