What you’ll be doing...


  • This job position will perform assignments of varied responsibility, scope and complexity. Day to day work can be comprised of acquisition/management of various agreements/contracts and support, as an escalation resource for Outside Plant Construction as well as ongoing management of existing contracts, including the protection of established rights.
  • Responsible acquisition/management of all Master Right of Way agreements allowing the company to utilize major rights of way (example: Railroad, Utility companies) for the installation, and operation of fiber network; Partners with Legal, Engineering, Carrier Management and Finance to execute/manage contract agreements. As lead negotiator for Verizon on Master Agreements makes recommendations on business decisions and contractual Terms and conditions to ensure they meet Verizon’s business objectives
  • Manages, coordinates and negotiates Structure Access Agreements regarding Verizon usage of available space upon poles or within underground conduit of an Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC), Power Company or other similar agency.
  • Manages, coordinates and negotiates Coundiut/Fiber Agreements associated with Verizon fiber installation projects.
  • Management of existing agreements including but not limited to agreement renewal, term enforcement, and payment authorization.
  • Candidate should have telecommunications industry experience and knowledge of Federal and State Telecommunication Regulations governing use of public ROW. Requires a broad range of skills within a professional discipline to effectively perform complex assignments; demands familiarity with principles, theories, concepts and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices.
  • In addition to managing assigned contract portfolio, individual will be responsible for creating executive presentations, budget reporting, supervising administrative support staff, and all contract assignments to ensure equitable workload amongst all contract managers. She/he will be lead administrator for LeaseNet Database and will work with LeaseNet Project Manager to ensure Database meets Contracts department needs.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Four or more years of Contract management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, and other regulations regarding a telecommunications provider’s use of municipal rights of way.
  • Knowledge on complex business plans and to successfully negotiate contract terms and conditions to meet company objectives.
  • Ability to compare competitor agreements, note variations, and negotiate for equitable treatment in agreements.
  • Experience with negotiating complex agreements within a corporate environment.
  • Ability to represent Verizon at industry meetings in a professional and persuasive manner to effectively communicate company objectives.
  • Knowledge with utility construction permit application process at the municipal (city/county) level, as well as, other regulatory agencies such as DOT, railroads, state land departments, and forest services.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), Google Earth and Adobe Professional and willingness to learn new applications.
  • Strong with the usage of attribute queries to select records from a database.
  • Two or more years of Telecom Fiber Construction/Installation.
  • SAP or other related accounting software experience is a plus.
  • Telecommunications industry experience.
  • Paralegal or legal experience a plus.
  • Experience with negotiation and execution of master right of way contract agreements.
  • Knowledge with structure access request process allowed under the Telecom Act whereby a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) applies to lease available space upon poles or within underground conduit of an Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC), Power Company or similar agency.
  • Knowledge with telecom outside plant construction terminology and techniques including facility locates, pole attachments, engineering plans, facility relocation, and directional drilling.
