What you’ll be doing...

The Network Systems Assuance Engineer will be responsible for the installation, operation & maintenance of complex data networks, ensuring network integrity & quality at Verizon Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs)/Data Centers.These networks include but are not limited to: LTE elements, routers, multilayer switches and suporting tramsport networks.Responsible for troubleshooting, upgrading, administering these platforms & multiple vendor systems; maintaining system, element & platform applications; & providing support to a varied user community; updating daily logs with site specific information, and composing clear & concise reports for system documentation.


Equipment that this position is responsible for includes but is not limited to:
- Services Aggregation Point equipment both virtual & physical such as PGW, SGW, MME

- Data Center Operations
- Verizon Cloud Platform Application Configuration & Support

- Routers & switches; Nokia, Juniper, Cisco
- IPv4/IPv6 Subnet Management
- Voicemail platforms
- Transport for Ethernet Backhaul in both lit/dark fiber environment
- AC/DC Power Plant Equipment
- HVAC
- Generators

Perfromdaily proactiveNetwork Survellance
- Coordination with internal teams and vendor support during planned or unexpected network events. Examples but not limited to Data Service Organization, National Network Organization, Data Performance, Verizon Business/Transport and externally Nokia, Cisco, Juniper, Samsung vendor support teams.
- Expected to perform work with minimum supervision & participate in cross-functional projects, as scheduled.

- Expected to perform oncall rotation as part of network team.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associates degree or two years of experience.
  • Three or more years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data networking protocols including TCP/IUP, OSI, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, BFD, SIP and other LAN/WAN protocols, is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data transmission facilities such as 1G, 10G, 100G & native Ethernet & SONET, is required
  • Programming & computer skills with emphasis on applications are required.
  • Valid driver's license

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's or 4 year technical degree and/or certifications such as Red Hat, Openstack, CCENT, CCNA or CCNP, are preferred.
  • Intermediate training in at least 3 of the following areas: SDN/NFV, data networking & communications, wireless technologies, digital communications, operating systems & applications, telecommunications and/or power distribution.
  • Relevant military experience, equivalent special electronics training.
  • Experience in AD/DC power systems, HVAC, dark fiber, Lucent, Mortola, Nortel; LTE / CDMA data, Tellabs DACS & Anypath or Comverse, voicemail platforms, Linux, Openstack, Containers, SDN / NFV and Scripting preferred.
