What you’ll be doing...

Our Tax team is looking for problem-solvers and the analytically inclined to help a world-leader in technology invest strategically, allocate wisely and drive shareholder value. Your role will be pivotal in the handling of the property tax cycle, which includes the completion of property renditions/returns, negotiation and/or appeal of assessments, and satisfying the payment of Verizon's property tax liabilities. Managing the compliance activities within your assigned geographic area or business unit, you will ensure that all external mandates are met.

  • Participating in planning, analysis and evaluation of state and county property tax assessments and audits to ensure compliance with statutory rules and established regulations, policies and procedures to minimize Verizon's property tax expense.
  • Analyzing assessments to ensure that they are reasonable given the circumstances of the taxable plant within a jurisdiction.
  • Providing property tax advice and guidance to Verizon management and personnel.
  • Performing tax research and analyze and interpreting existing and proposed tax regulations and legislation.
  • Fostering and maintaining open communication and working relationships with tax department customers and state and local tax authorities.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in property tax or other related experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A Master's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA).
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Expertise in the areas of unit valuation and business personal property valuation.
