What you’ll be doing...

This position leads a group of Network Assurance Field Engineers assigned to the Salt Lake City, UT and Boise, ID geographic areas and will require in-market travel in the assigned geographic area.

As our Senior Network Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day network performance and reliability to guarantee the best customer experience in the market. This includes training and continued development of the workforce as-well-as organizing and scheduling the resources necessary to support a broad range of network elements. This also includes the timely installation and maintenance of transport facilities, software translations, hardware/software upgrades, and router/switch upgrades, IP configurations, RAN Antenna Performance and Interference troubleshooting, Cell Site Call Testing and Site Activations in the designated market regions, to include both macro cells and small cells. Equipment that this position is responsible for includes but is not limited to: BTS's, enodeB's, IBR/DAS, RRH, Small Cells, EPDR assets, IP infrastructure, routers, switches, voice mail services, EBH microwave, ADM's, DACS, MSPP, AC/DC Power Equipment.

  • Directing and supervising Field Assurance Engineers which includes responsibilities associated with the proper integration, activation, maintenance and ongoing operations of all core RF, transport/backhaul, and data elements as well as the physical plant necessary to deliver on our network reliability brand promise.
  • Managing the operation and maintenance of all technologies necessary to expand and evolve the network to meet customer demand for new and improved service offerings. This includes timely support of both capital and expense projects while delivering upon financial targets/goals.
  • Effectively interfacing and providing support to all other local departments in the organization, such as: Construction, RF, System Performance, Engineering and Facilities on a daily basis to ensure growth schedules are being met.
  • Effectively interacting with HQ organizations such as NRB, NOC, Compliance and NNO Engineering and Operations. Ensuring the security, safety, and environmental compliance of systems and facilities are in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • Leveraging your strong and effective leadership skills you will guide field engineers through change as our network and skill sets transform.
  • Partnering with other market network teams to continue to ensure best in class North Central Market results, as-well-as removing roadblocks to help make the field teams more productive.
  • Leveraging your strong computer skills, excel and data analysis to identify areas for focus and improvement.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Communications, or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of circuit and RAN test equipment and network monitoring applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in networking including IP addressing, routing and Ethernet switching.
  • Knowledge of 3G and 4G call flows for voice and/or data session describing network elements from cell to Internet.
  • Knowledge of wireless cell site base station, router and antenna equipment.
  • Knowledge of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, electronic theory, and applications.
  • Experience and knowledge of Transmission facilities and network protocols (IP, Ethernet Backhaul, Dark Fiber).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends as required.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Strong RF background.
  • Service provider experience in MSC and/or Cell Operations.
  • Maintenance experience with Cisco, E///, and Nokia infrastructure.
  • High level of leadership and managerial skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptive to change.
  • Demonstrated effective coaching, feedback and teamwork skills.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience in one or more of the following fields; wireless networks, telecommunications, radio communications, IP networks with two or more years of managerial/leadership experience.
