What you’ll be doing...

The Inventory Planning Consultant will be responsible for the forecast and planning of Network equipment. He or she will need to ensure that short and long range equipment forecast is maintained in order to support network deployments across VZW, VZB, and VZT.

  • Responsible for developing equipment forecasts to suppliers related to Network suppliers on monthly cycle.
  • Uses existing tools and databases to enable automatic gathering of data to provide accurate and timely forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Supply Planning on overall network strategy with consideration for existing inventory and current orders, which offsets capital purchases and reduces inventory.
  • Partner with cross functional teams on forecasting (typically Planning and Engineering teams), consumption, supply planning, and replenishment processes supporting forecasting and inventory reduction.
  • Experience with Supply Chain Demand and Supply Planning systems integration and implementation.
  • Identify optimal managed product mix and appropriate program structure.
  • Forecast accuracy measurement of MAPE / SMAPE (Mean Avg % Error) of 70% or greater 90 days out.
  • Work with Supply planning teams to establish internal stocking levels to meet customer and network needs, create and manage optimal reorder points to maintain targeted Days of Supply.
  • In the event of capacity shortfalls, coordinates response and recovery with the vendor, supply planning and engineering teams.
  • Tracks vendor performance and equipment delivery intervals and drives compliance.
  • Coordinates with supply planning, procurement and Engineering to address equipment backorders. Provides fulfillment data and pursues needed improvements.
  • Presents recommendations for process improvement ideas to management to create efficiencies in the overall analysis and management of the planning process to include system enhancements and taking into consideration input and output variables.
  • Manages End-of-Life / Discontinuance activities, including inventory obsolescence and working with engineering to assign replacement items.
  • Provides input and experience on new product launches as defined by engineering; determining ability to provide stock and vendor ability to deliver by launch dates.
  • Minimizes inventory levels to values set by management. Investigates opportunities to utilize excess equipment to reduce overall inventory values and CAPEX spend.
  • Prepares monthly metrics reporting to include Vendor performance and KPI’s that are not limited to be include the timeliness of install orders fulfilled and differentiating between items that do/do not have set minimum/maximum levels.
  • Prepares quarterly item analysis and proposes recommendations for engineering review and quarterly reviews with external vendors.
  • Identifies opportunities for Strategic buys and works with Sourcing and Procurement to implement for Strategic Cost Savings and Planning. Evaluates vendor proposals (from a Demand/Supply Perspective) and participate in contract negotiations as needed.
  • Analyzes and recommends appropriate equipment managed solutions for high spend items in order to maintain and exceed expected due dates while keeping inventory values low.
  • Partnering with Supply Planning, Procurement and Engineering to meet the expectations of Customer and Network Orders.
  • Analyzes forecast needs for inventory, purchasing, and engineering systems and works with to improve visibility across organization.
  • Drives data validation and forecast results, as well as other KPIs.
  • Data Mining in large databases to locate information related to forecasting.
  • Able to use Visualization to communicate trends and issues.
  • Projects -
    • Create automated and streamlined solutions for forecast processes.
    • Support cross-functional and cross-organizational programs related to forecasting.
    • Continually improve forecast accuracy, inventory reduction, and business processes.
    • Provide necessary presentations and reporting to management as needed.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of equipment life cycle planning experience.
  • Four or more years of Supply Chain experience.
  • Experience managing multiple vendor programs simultaneously.
  • Supply and Demand Planning experience.
  • Experience with direct or influential authority of cross functional teams, processes and levels of management.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

  • A degree or Masters’ degree in Supply Chain.
  • Five or more years of Supply/Demand planning experience
  • Five or more years of Supply Chain experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Forward looking mindset with outstanding analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrates transformational discipline, Communication effectiveness and exceptional program management skill sets.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively with multiple clients and projects, tight deadlines and take actions using self-directed management skills.
  • Experience with procurement systems and processes within vSAP, nSAP, Peoplesoft and Baxter Prophet.
