FP&A Center of Excellence Team

Reshaping the future of FP&A at Verizon, calls for improving our ability to deliver exceptional value to our customers. Being a part of the Center of Excellence (COE) team you will work alongside financial professionals and business leaders, gaining opportunities to grow and develop to build a strong FP&A foundation. You will be involved in, target setting, reporting & analysis, planning and forecasting, and guiding the strategic direction across Verizon. Explore the breadth of opportunities that come with aligning your expertise with the future of superior networks, systems, analytics and video, to improve the way people live work and play.

  • Lead a team of Project and Portfolio Managers to ensure efficient delivery of both business process and system improvement opportunities within the FP&A COE portfolio
  • Manage initial intake and documentation of projects, their expected goals, stakeholders, and prioritization.
  • Ensure visibility to all strategic projects across the program.
  • Facilitate cross-team and-function communication to reduce project handoff cycle time and shorten delivery timelines.
  • Ensure all project work for FP&A is being completed on time and to standards established to deliver a quality product, while mitigating risks to the program as needed.
  • Ensure all necessary stakeholders are involved or informed of projects, their timelines, and dependencies.
  • Implement project tracking and measurement methodologies and applications to produce intelligence related to the program’s ability to deliver expected value.
  • Work with delivery teams to understand release constraints and dependencies to ensure optimum use of resources for maximized value.
  • Lead post-mortem assessments and set parameters for monitoring implemented process improvements.
  • Manage the employee life cycle processes (Recruiting, Performance, Development, Career and Compensation).
  • Present and communicate to all levels of the business.

What we’re looking for...

Must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience as a program or portfolio manager overseeing multiple projects at once.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • A Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in a role that required planning and delivery of business process and/or system-related projects
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) certification
  • Agile Scrum Master or Product Owner certification
  • Demonstrated history of leading a team and building a culture of high performance.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, stakeholder alignment.
  • Experience with Project Management software, such as Clarity, JIRA, Microsoft Project, etc.
  • Deep understanding of project and program delivery concepts, such as burndown rates, delivery velocity, release planning, and forecasting.
  • Ability to conduct analysis of project and program delivery metrics to identify bottlenecks or sources of defects in the program’s production methodology.
  • Extensive organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience managing financial system projects (ERPs, Enterprise Planning Management Reporting, etc.), and/or Data Warehouse projects from concept to operations.
  • Knowledge in the usage of Digital Finance tools such as Visualization, Robotics, Cognitive Language Generation, and Advanced Analytics.
  • Knowledge in the usage of Oracle DRM, Collibra, Hyperion Financial Management.
  • Knowledge in the usage of OBIEE, Tableau, Qlik, Teradata Analytic Services, SQL, and/or similar tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
