What you’ll be doing...

You will help to build the foundation that keeps us in front of the competition. The work you will be doing will deliver the network infrastructure for new platform, product and service deployments. We will look to you to meet critical deadlines for large cross-functional and enterprise-wide projects and solve the complex problems that the team may face along the way. Your role will be pivotal to coordinate activities within the network function and across other teams to make completing complex projects look easy.

You will be responsible for project managing projects to grow and improve the Verizon Wireless network. You will interact with multiple teams to move projects along from inception to completion in a timely manner. This position will require you to manage time schedules, technology and capital to meet network growth needs on time and within budget.

As a Program/project manager, you will be responsible for the successful completion of all network initiatives in partnership with all the sub-markets, Territory functional teams, HQ planning and implementation teams, and all Verizon business units. This to be achieved by clearly identifying the value proposition and the how to support.

The role requires the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment, to interact with Executives, have excellent communication skills and detailed knowledge of the Verizon network, the processes and policies.

Some of the key programs to manage included but not limited to are:

  • New generation of Technology rollout – 5G.
  • Major Event Network readiness and Logistical support.
  • Standardization of processes and tools.

Principal responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Develop end-to-end project plans to guide the implementation of network infrastructure.
  • Balance resource allocation, budgets, timelines, and potential risk factors that may impact project success.
  • Manage a wide variety of project teams focused on different aspects of the network infrastructure and keeping them on task to meet deadlines.
  • Direct the deployment of new product and service projects to ensure their integration and commercial success.
  • Leading project update meetings for leadership and finding creative ways to resolve problems.
  • Provide project management leadership to ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.
  • Communicate progress; manage risk contingencies and market expectations.
  • Effectively manage and handle multiple priorities in a highly changing, fast paced business environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all Verizon Wireless standards and practices.
  • Effectively manage vendors and internal teams.
  • Work with team to make sure projects are worked with a sense of urgency.
  • Provide accurate Capital and Expense budget forecasts.
  • Monthly/weekly reporting on project status and completions.
  • Business Partnering.
  • Managing Risks and Issues.
  • Team Leadership.
  • Strategic Influencing.
  • Handle responsibility for communicating effectively at all levels.
  • Drive standardization of processes across sub-markets, Territory, and HQ teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Knowledge of RF and switch architectures, transport (facility), and intelligent network architecture planning.
  • Valid driver's license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business and/or Finance.
  • Advanced degree Masters in Engineering or MBA.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others in a technical and fast paced environment.
  • Proven ability to manage large number of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with all Verizon business units, vendors, and internal engineering teams to facilitate completion of projects utilizing cost, time and scope constraints.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated capability of handling multiple priorities in a highly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of general office application software: MS Word, Power point, Tableau and Databases.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (writing macros) and MS Project.
  • Advanced skills within a professional discipline and general knowledge of other areas.
