What you’ll be doing...

As the Service Assurance Manager, you will manage San Francisco city and Silicon Valley territory. You will be responsible for assuring day to day network performance and reliability, for best customer experience in the market. This includes the training and continued development of the workforce as well as organizing and scheduling the resources necessary to support a broad range of network elements. This also includes the timely installation and maintenance of transport facilities, software translations, hardware/software upgrades, and router/switch upgrades, IP configurations, RAN Antenna Performance and Interference troubleshooting, Cell Site Call Testing and Site Activations in the designated market regions. Equipment that this position is responsible for includes but is not limited to: BTS's, enodeB's, IBR/DAS, RRH, Small Cells, EPDR assets, IP infrastructure, routers, switches, voice mail services, EBH microwave, ADM's, DACS, MSPP, AC/DC Power Equipment.

  • Direct and supervise the Field Assurance Engineers and includes responsibilities associated with the proper integration, activation, maintenance and ongoing operations of all core RF, transport/backhaul, and data elements as well as the physical plant necessary to deliver on our network reliability brand promise.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of all technologies necessary to expand and evolve the network to meet customer demand for new and improved service offerings. This includes timely support of both capital and expense projects while delivering upon financial targets/goals.
  • Effectively interface and provide support to all other local departments in the organization, such as: Construction, RF, Performance, Engineering and Facilities on a daily basis to ensure growth schedules are being met.
  • Effectively interact with HQ organizations such as NRB, NOC, Compliance and NNO Engineering and Operations. Ensure the security, safety, and environmental compliance of systems and facilities are in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • As a strong and effective people leader, you will lead field engineers through change as our network and skill sets transforms. As an excellent team player, you will effectively partner with other market network teams to continue to ensure best in class great lakes results, as well as removing roadblocks to make the field teams more productive. Strong computer skills, excel and data analysis are foundations to identifying areas for focus and improvement.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience in networking including IP addressing, routing and Ethernet switching.
  • Knowledge of call flow for a voice and/or data session describing network elements from cell to Internet.
  • Knowledge of wireless cell site base station, router and antenna equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of circuit and RAN test equipment and network monitoring applications.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience in one or more of the following fields; wireless networks, telecommunications, radio communications, IP networks with two or more years of managerial/leadership experience.
  • Strong RF Network Performance or Networking background.
  • Previous service provider experience in MSC and/or Cell Operations. Maintenance preferred. Experience with Cisco, ALU /Nokia infrastructure.
  • High level of leadership, managerial skills, and administrative skills.
  • Clear understanding of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, electronic theory, and applications.
  • Experience and knowledge of Transmission facilities and network protocols (IP, Ethernet Backhaul, Dark Fiber).
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Adaptiveness to change – openness to different viewpoints and ability to learn new skills and concepts as our network transforms.
  • Demonstrated effective coaching, feedback and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends as required.
  • Strong coaching, inspiring and teaching skills.
