The Branded Mobile Apps group under the Technology Development and Planning organization is looking for a senior level member of technical staff who is self-motivated, innovative, out of the box thinker and well-rounded engineer to be part of the team chartered with owning and driving Spam and Robocall solution from Verizon’s Call Filter product perspective, across Verizon. This engineer will also be product owners for upcoming initiatives including Contextual Calling and Branded Calling, end to end.

The Mobile Technology Engineer will work independently and collaboratively.

Product Development:

  • Gather marketing requirements, translate them into end to end architecture that delivers a superior customer experience. Assess vendors, make build vs. buy recommendations.
  • Author RFP for technical requirements and assess commercially available and vendor solutions for vendor selection.
  • Design and architect product that consider our network required service availability (which includes rigorous failover, redundancy, and security audits and data backup considerations).
  • Preparing Capacity and forecast platform needs.
  • Develop application or components of it, where applicable, to demonstrate proof of concept involving new technology.
  • Be the focal point in the Software Development Life Cycle. Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, Sourcing, and Legal to assure Verizon’s business interests are met. Lead user acceptance testing, be the gatekeeper on product quality. Coordinate the deployment to assist the Business with commercial launch.
  • Drive and manage vendor to adhere to requirements, device porting, support app and network validation with peer teams.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Monitor customer feedback and product metrics to recommend changes or enhancements.
  • Assist operations, developers and customer support teams to resolve escalated customer issues.

Product Strategy

  • Proactively research related technology, industry trends and competitive analysis across other carrier solutions and over the top products to drive spam related features within the product.
  • Stay up to date with 3GPP SIP standards to explore methods to enhance the product.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert to interface extensively with all internal cross functional teams including HQ Planning, Maintenance Engineering, Operations, Device Marketing and Technology, Wireline, Product Marketing, IT and with external entities including App developers, content partners to make technical recommendations to design and deploy products and services.
  • Ability to influence key technology strategies across organizations.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Twelve or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience authoring RFPs, design documents, assessing vendors and their technology, manage implementation, security audits and deployment.
  • Experience with CDMA, VoLTE and IMS network elements and their functions.
  • Experience working with SIP signaling and headers supported by 3GPP.
  • Experience with interfacing, presenting and collaborating with peer teams and leadership to gain alignment; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical (e.g., software systems design) and analytical skills.
  • Experience with architecting technical call flows, managing vendors and partners.
  • Experience with wireless and wireline networks, latency and performance indicators as it relates to Voice.
  • Experience with app development and functioning of mobile apps on Android and iOS platforms to provide technical guidance on design choices.
  • Detail knowledge of client/server and/or distributed computing architecture, router-based networks utilizing TCP/IP or OSI protocols (TCP, SSL, HTTP, LDAP, SOAP).
  • Experience with packet capture analysis (Wireshark) to detect and solve network or application related problems.
  • Ability to work independently in an unstructured environment.
  • Experience with launching products in Verizon.
  • Project Management background.
  • Experience with wireless and wireline technologies including Cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), Big data, security, API platforms, Machine Learning or 5G.
  • Experience with OEM interactions, Device porting.
