Role Purpose:

IT & Managed Services/ BPO Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships across the enterprise to achieve best total value. The role includes category management strategies and execution, supplier relationship management, negotiation, risk management and supply base performance management. Successful candidate will be required to have the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to design and execute sourcing strategies in a global environment with both niche and blue chip OEMs across a range of platforms.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for leading global cross functional teams in the development, communication and approval of sourcing strategies.
  • Responsible for insuring that category strategy’s result in and generate roadmaps of savings and value streams, and where appropriate, innovation opportunities.
  • Work with Sourcing Management in understanding the global IT & Managed Services spend and identifying opportunities to increase quality and improve value for money.
  • Develop, champion, and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize total cost of ownership year-over-year for assigned IT & Managed Services/ BPO categories according to group guidelines.
  • Continuous learning and development of Category knowledge and methodology driving innovation and continuous improvement within the assigned IT & Managed Services Category.
  • Continual monitoring of internal customers and supply markets for changes that may impact the sourcing strategy.
  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with suppliers and market experts; identify and communicate new technologies and solutions to key problems in the assigned IT & Managed Services Category area.
  • Year-on-year financial accountability for assigned category’s with respect to price movement
  • Leverage the growing business volumes and deliver competitive advantage to Verizon.
  • Lead the business in agreeing and then delivering CLEAR and COMPELLING Category strategies for the assigned IT & Managed Services Categories which underpin the wider business strategy.
  • Responsible for leading global cross functional teams through the supplier selection process and for the approval of selected suppliers by stakeholders. The team-based supplier selection process is inclusive of identification of potential suppliers, RFX development and execution, proposal evaluation against business requirements and total cost of ownership, and supplier selection recommendation. Upon stakeholder approval and completion of successful negotiation and contracting.
  • Responsible for negotiation planning and contracting with suppliers, ensuring that agreements reflect Verizon’s needs globally.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies and establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers within IT &Managed Services Category.
  • Challenge Suppliers and internal Stakeholders to identify and deliver Value and Savings within the assigned IT & Managed Services Category
  • Maintain a working knowledge of legal terms, local laws, regulations, Information security and GDRP compliance etc. as well as any internal policies (e.g. code of ethics) or procedures to ensure that the behaviour exhibited by the organization with the highest level of integrity, honesty, and transparency.
  • Responsible for drafting, negotiating IT & Managed Services Master agreements including licenses agreements, SaaS services, professional/consulting services, Service level agreements.
  • The Category Sourcing Expert will also be expected to take on additional projects as needed to support business requirements.

What we’re looking for...

Person Specification:

Ideally you would have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Technical qualification/background is desired but not mandatory
  • Credentials from Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) or Irish Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management (IIPMM) is desired but not mandatory
  • 6+ years’ experience in sourcing, ideally with a minimum of 3 years in IT / Managed Services Category Management experience within areas such as Software Licensing, Cloud Storage, Professional/Consulting services, IT & Network Hardware, *aaS, Managed Services etc.Experience in complex negotiations and supplier management within IT category.
  • Strong negotiation skills and cost management practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced matrix environment
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Very strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills. Customer focused, self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Project Management in complex multi-project and multi-geography environment
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is desired but not mandatory
  • Proficiency with SAP is desired but not mandatory & Microsoft Office applications (including PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
