What you’ll be doing...

Responsible for Transport Contract Management in the East Territory. The Transport Engineer will coordinate the business review, obtain financial approvals, obtain legal review/approval, and execute various Network Transport Contracts. The Engineer IV in this role will assist management in balancing workload with each of the Engineers assigned to process contracts and be accountable for ensuring all contracts accurately reflect the business purpose, operational requirements, and provides the necessary legal protections and other requirements consistent with Verizon Wireless’ standards and policies.

Willwork independently and cooperatively with various internal and external groups to resolve contractual terms and conditions on Transport contracts in a timely manner.

Coordinate contract execution and complete all required record keeping associated with each contract.

Act as a liaison between the Verizon Wireless business groups and Transport Suppliers to ensure that their performance complies with the terms and conditions of the negotiated agreements.

Perform management analysis to improve contract execution timeframes. Create reports for Regional Management upon request. Develop job aids and continue process education for Regional Interconnect Engineers to assure HQ requirements are met and as a means to reduce timeframes to contract execution.

Negotiate transport facility contracts with Suppliers including CLECs, RBOCs, and Special Service Vendors, for services dependent on Master Services Agreements already in place, tariff contracts, Dark Fiber, Small Cells, Volume Term agreements, Ethernet Backhaul Service, and Individual Case Based contracts.

Team cooperation with peers in the Interconnect, Transport, and HQ Contracts Groups in developing and advocating internal and external policies associated with interconnection and transport arrangements consistent with Verizon Wireless objectives and business guidelines.

Where necessary, create a library of templates for transport facilities contracts with terms and conditions that represent a Verizon Wireless negotiating position that can reduce the cycle time for processing transport contracts.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in science, business, telecommunications, project management or related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of transport facilities and concepts.
  • Experience with financial analysis, and competitive analysis skills.
  • Prior negotiating experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize when resources demand working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexible and creative (seeks out and attempts alternate solutions to resolve issues, and seamlessly adjusts to a dynamic, changing business environment).
  • Sound product management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards in Tableau or similar applications.
  • Team orientation with ability to work independently.
