What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the installation, monitoring, testing and maintenance of data/telecommunications and associated electronic equipment and wiring per specifications and operational procedures, both in technical facilities as well as on customer property. Conducting equipment build, grooming and associated installation activities associated with growing the Verizon network. Monitoring of construction activity, fiber splicing and termination. Maintains new and existing circuits through troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques; utilizes local and remote test systems to isolate and resolve customer circuit outages. Coordinates the testing and turn up of service with all involved providers until the customer’s service is up and work.

  • Testing and turn up on Lightwave telecommunications/data systems and associated electronic equipment per specifications and engineering standards across the Verizon network.
  • Performing testing and diagnostic procedures on equipment and fiber according to published standards.
  • Assembling and/or testing transmission equipment.
  • Performing support functions for other employees and lead contractors in the field.
  • Coordinating and completing the testing and turn up of projects with Project Management and Engineering.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Strong telecom equipment installation, testing, and initial turn-up experience.
  • Fiber optic splicing and restoration experience, experience with both AC and DC power.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and providing as-built drawings to engineering.
  • Two or more years of related technical training.
  • One or more years of experience in telecom industry with insightof recent technology.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics, electricity, fiber optics, and transmission turn-up and test procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work with team members, and both internal and external organizations.
  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance for customer locations.
