What you’ll be doing...

Individual will lead key components of the Business Continuity outreach program and support Business Continuity operational planning and incident response program activities. Primary responsibilities are to:

  • Drive external awareness of Verizon’s emergency capabilities and Business Continuity activities, for example at meetings with key customers and account teams, and with government agencies and external affairs teams.
  • Drive external outreach to relevant federal, state and local government emergency management agencies to build operational response capabilities, and external awareness and alignment for Verizon programs.
  • Drive industry involvement by speaking at regional and national emergency management conferences, coordinating event participation, developing white papers and articles.
  • Increase internal awareness of Business Continuity capabilities by creating and delivering presentations and training materials to sales teams and other operational teams, and coordinating content for the external and internal websites.
  • Support Business Continuity program activities, by supporting plan development, plan updates, and conducting rigorous tests that validate both internal team and external supplier or government agency capabilities
  • Support the response to requests for information from external organizations and interfacing with other departments as needed to review and approve external information.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of customer facing materials, including presentations, brochures, videos, case studies, etc.
  • Develop Business Continuity program team through briefings and exercises for crisis management teams, updating and testing Business Continuity plans, and managing various program activities.
  • Support internal teams and suppliers during actual incident responses, to include deployment for on-site support, as appropriate.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business continuity, business, or technical field or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 50% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license.

Even better if you have:

  • MBA, or Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Five or more years of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, or Emergency Management experience in a corporate or government setting orrelated fields.
  • Fiveor moreyears project management experience.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the efforts of emergency response, disaster recovery, and business continuity programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to present concepts and key messages to small and large audiences, and to senior management.
  • Experience leading and responding to significant emergency events.
  • Knowledge of current Business Continuity planning techniques and technologies as well as the methods used in performing risk analyses, business impact analyses, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan development, and plan testing.
  • Management judgment skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong facilitation and client-service skills. Ability to interact and influence outcomes at all levels of the Company, including local business groups and senior management.
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment, with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external resources. Management of multiple location and departmental issues through partnering and solid business relationships.
  • Strong analytical and independent thought process to assess abstract circumstances and manage ambiguity independently.
  • Effective team player that can resolve conflict and offer win-win solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or related accreditation.
  • Working knowledge of the telecommunications industry and the ability to develop a clear understanding of the company’s key functional processes and resources.
  • Experience as an emergency responder or Incident Coordinator.
  • Strong industry and organizational networks, including an understanding of applicable standards and laws.
