What you’ll be doing...

Data drives our business and you use business intelligence tools and data analytics to monitor the performance of our wireline and wireless networks to identify, predict and repair issues that affect the customer experience. You’ll be communicating the business value of technical solutions to stakeholders and keeping up with the market trends to ensure we maintain a competitive advantage. Through implementing descriptive, predictive and prescriptive capabilities, you will improve our network and enhance the way that our customers live, work, and play.

  • Performing end-to-end systems analysis and design.
  • Analyzing and utilizing the data to guide decisions and improve network efficiency.
  • Using complex algorithms to develop systems & applications to deliver business functions.
  • Collecting and correlating data among strategic wireline networks and existing datasets.
  • Working with new technologies to optimize our network for the benefit of our customers.
  • Researching and implementing process improvements.

Data project execution:

  • Execute large-scale data projects across Network and Technology organization including cross-organization projects involving TB (terabyte) to PB (petabyte) sized datasets.
  • Support concurrent big data requests and processing from multiple teams under SVPs, VPs, EDs and multiple other groups.
  • Work with advanced Business Intelligent tool topics such as complex calculations, table calculations, geographic mapping, data blending and optimization of data extracts. Design, develop and optimize workbooks for Senior leaders.
  • Process, clean, archive and monitor all data movement, and transition application processes to distributed processing framework.

Data Feed Automation:

  • Automate business critical manual data feeds and processes with analytical models across Engineering, Capital Management and Network Planning. This would involve working with business leaders, mapping the data processes and creating future process flows and models.

Data Modeling & Data Governance:

  • Develop and enforce data modeling standards and best practices, managing specific data in the network Enterprise Data Warehouse and Network Data Lake environments.
  • Implement data governance within the meta-data management repository and oversees all data services development and ensures that all data services are integrated into the Network enterprise data framework.


  • Build external relationships that create shared success across the company and support the technology organization’s priorities including optimizing capital spend and reducing expenses.

Strategic direction:

  • Providing strategic and concrete ideas, direction and projects across applied advanced analytics and data science. Application areas include capital optimization, expense reduction and data-driven competitive intelligence.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Business intelligence/visualization software experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Applied Statistics.
  • Data mining, preparation and modeling experience including regression/linear modeling.
  • Statistical analysis language experience.
  • Data preparation tool experience.
  • Java, Spotfire, OBIEE, SQL Query, and/or Tableau experience.
  • Splunk deployment, custom application development and infrastructure planning experience.
  • Experience with Hadoop cluster utilizing map/reduce including Pig, Hbase, Hive, Spark, Storm, and Scoop.
  • Relational database experience, including Oracle.
  • Experience in a Data Analyst and/or Software Development role.
  • Ability to exceed in the Big Data Environment. Ability to grasp complex concepts, analyze and make sense of large data sets and make recommendations.
