What you’ll be doing...

The successful candidate will be responsible providing technical leadership for the IP Edge Engineering Team as they work to complete key imperatives for 2019 including:

  • eNSE migration, ISP Growth,MSE Migration, VTS/DCNM Upgrades, VCP Edge Migrations, Access site migrations to segment routing.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Engineers within their respective IP Edge Engineering team.
  • Take an active role in leading team members through the technology transformation process.
  • Provide team members with technical and project guidance, including MOP development and creation, project planning and “first run” MOP Reviews.
  • Provide management with engineering support for key initiatives and budget maintenance.
  • Assume acting manager responsibilities, as requested.
  • Collaborate with peers and other stakeholders for the purpose of driving initiatives and schedule dates.
  • Partner with Territory Planning and IP Edge Leads to ensure expectations are understood.
  • Freely distribute information regarding FOAs, outages, designs or any other relevant topics across all teams.
  • Engineering Layer 1-3 for Edge.
  • Project oversight and ownership.
  • Oversees network builds.
  • Strong Interaction with design and architecture teams developing future networks.
  • Implement network configurations from design models and templates.
  • Work on cross functional teams to develop network automation using Python, NSO, Ansible, and other tools like DCNM, VTS, Pronghorn, NSO, and Nuage.
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure new networks are built, migrated and, and decommissioned in accordance with our Engineering Excellence principles.
  • Work on engineering and deploying directional networks for Intelligent Edge, including but not limited to SAP ENSE Fabric, Access ENSE fabric, ISP, NNI and Core connectivity.
  • Build networks for interconnection to VCP platforms for growth, capacity and expansion.
  • Engineer network solutions with a strong interaction with PNF and VNF applications teams.
  • Continuously track plans with peers and key stakeholders while providing directional leadership with clear prioritization to adjust the plan for any required changes in business initiatives.
  • Serves as the advocate, coordinator, facilitator, and central point of contact for the IP Edge team.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Wireless industry experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience working in the modern IP fabric based networks (Network fabric, underlay/overlay. Some exposure in VXLAN and Segment routing).
  • Five or more years of experience configuring routers, switches and related network equipment.
  • Experience inCisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco ASR, Cisco 12K, 3945, Nexus 7K, 7200XVR; Juniper MX-480, MX-960, ALU router products, F5 and A10 Load Balancer.
  • Operating Systems: IOS, XR-IOS, NX-OS, JunOS, Nokia OS.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications/presentation skills.
  • Ability to understand end to end call flows for deploying network services.
  • Ability to lead the IP Edge Engineering team through to the completion of the eNSE migration project, oversee migration activities and assist with CIQ and template review.
