What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for working with the regions to plan and develop long term cost-effective solutions for the transport and switching of cell sites, PSTN and data traffic. This includes working with counterparts within the regions to redesign the tandem network, microwave, fiber, as well as, Interexchange and Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) leased facilities resulting in expense reduction without risking the integrity of the network.

  • Work with the regions to ensure we maintain path, switch, and vendor diversity where economically justified; devise routing schemes as may be required to prevent blocked calls.
  • Play a lead role in expense reduction by documenting and tracking key service indicators, and actively participate in quarterly vendor meetings.
  • Work with Maintenance Engineering and Corporate Planning to develop standards and guidelines as necessary to ensure network integrity.
  • Prepare and evaluate RFQs and RFP's as necessary.
  • Work with the region to produce expense forecasts of trunk and capacity requirements, oversee ongoing forecast modifications to reflect changes in traffic patterns, and provide capacity requirements to vendors for equipment and facility planning.
  • Use available tools to determine savings opportunities.
  • Contact vendors and evaluate their proposals looking for opportunities.
  • Support the regions in their own initiatives and prepare job aids and tools that document internal methods and procedures.
