Roaming Operations FP&A

The Verizon Commercial Finance Organization is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Roaming Operations team, as Manager of FP&A. The team is primarily responsible for operational reporting and analytics support for Verizon Wireless’: Domestic and International Carrier Services roaming, the Roaming Operations, Marketing, and Commercial Finance teams for financial and operational matters associated with roaming related costs. Our mission is to return shareholder value, providing quality business decision support, actionable operational insights and reporting support in an efficient digitally centric fashion. In addition, a key to our success is streamlining processes, provide our customers with insight to identify opportunities to reduce roaming cost and generate new revenue.


The Finance Manager – Roaming Operational Reporting is responsible for leading a team of professionals that provide in‐depth analytical support and analysis for all aspects of domestic and international (collaboratively with the ICS Finance team in Dublin, Ireland) roaming performance. This position requires an understanding of the roaming business, financial statements, financial analysis and performance drivers.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Work across multiple roaming centric teams (i.e., domestic, international, marketing, tax, etc.) to develop: annual VSIL (Verizon Services Ireland Limited) budget, analyze monthly results versus plan, generate and provide VSIL tax department with invoice.
  • Manage a team of Senior Financial Analysts who provide: Project Analysis, Program Management and Performance Management for roaming operations.
  • Assure all roaming report and business analysis requests are a value-add to the business, financially resulting it a reduced cost, revenue accretion through a better customer experience.
  • Ensure all reporting is developed in a digitally centric fashion (i.e., SQL, Tableau, Qlik, etc.) in order to minimize manual work.
  • Conduct regular meetings with various cross-functional leadership teams to discuss value-add roaming reporting requirements and reduce production of unnecessary reports.
  • Contributes to the development of the overall strategy of the roaming organization.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly reports and variance analysis for management review, participates in short and long range financial planning, forecasting and ad-hoc financial reports.
  • Identify and deliver on opportunities to effectively digitize the production and communication of operational results to our stakeholders in dashboard or automated fashion.
  • Prepare presentations as necessary in support of periodic senior leadership meetings and various strategic committees of the company.
  • Conducts special financial and business related analysis for area market level operational reviews as necessary.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Business Administration or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • CPA, CFA or CMA
  • Experience with reporting tools such as; Vision, MARS, RSS, SMART, Tableau and/or QlikView.
  • Experience with Verizon accounting and finance systems and applications (i.e., PMR, Essbase, DW/Cube environment).
  • Knowledge of roaming operations, reporting, settlement process and systems.
  • Knowledge of wireless industry trends and key business drivers.
  • Six or more years of financial analysis experience.
  • Strategic and analytical capability, including the ability to analyze a large amount of data.
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills – ability to organize, plan, and develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to accurately and creatively summarize analysis with relevant points for executive presentations and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Experience building strong working relationships at all levels of the organization and across functional groups.
  • Analytical and modeling skills – ability to review roaming financial results and provide meaningful analysis, ability to proactively identify key business issues and drivers, and provide recommendations to improve results.
  • Strong strategic skills, with the ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations.
