What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for managing and facilitating all aspects of gathering competitive intelligence for the Fios product line. In this position you will develop actionable insights to drive Fios strategies to drive Verizon’s overall competitive advantage. On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with the advertising, branding, pricing, product, promotions, sales and legal teams at Verizon. You will be working cross-functionally to understand all aspects of how competitors form communication and advertising to operational issues. You’ll also be synthesizing information from various sources into meaningful insights and presenting actionable recommendations to leaders.

In this role, you will

  • Monitor competitive activity including advertising and promotions, in market activity, press releases, analyst’s reports, etc.
  • Create reports to compare and contrast competitors’ products, services and other aspects of their operations.
  • Prepare and present competitive snapshot on weekly marketing calls.
  • Categorize advertising for analysis by segment, monitor advertising weights and spending, manage database of competitor advertising and other collateral.
  • Manage vendors including management of vendor payments and internal process with accounts payable, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Issue alerts and publish weekly newsletters to keep the Marketing organization abreast of competitors’ activities.
  • Analyze and summarize company’s quarterly earnings reports and other industry presentations.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience in marketing, competitive intelligence, consumer insights, strategy or analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills to review quantitative and quantitative data, interpret findings and identify insights and formulate recommendations.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and marketing strategy and mix to inform potential recommended actions.
  • Experience collecting data as well as managing vendors.
  • Strong with Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A degree in Business or Marketing.
  • Experience working effectively across organization boundaries.
  • Strong cross-functional experience within project management or change management teams.
  • Experience supporting either internal or external client groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to successfully build long-term relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience making trade-offs to deliver effective solutions to business partners in a timely fashion.
  • Focus on delivering accurate and timely results by overcoming obstacles through the development of mechanisms and tools to improve efficiencies.
  • Experience as a creative thinker who can quickly adjust between strategy and execution as well as adapt to dynamic needs that may arise.
