What you’ll be doing...

Responsible for the day to day operations of Verizon data center which includes monitoring, testing, preventative maintenance and repair of facilities infrastructure equipment and associated electrical, alarming and monitoring systems, per specifications and operational procedures in Canada. Perform/Manage maintenance and repair of the physical facilities structures, security and peripheral systems. Provide emergency power and physical facilities remedies at all technical facilities. Will be a first responder to any facilities threat to the Verizon Business network and could be asked to be a first responder to any natural disasters that threaten or have impacted the Verizon Business network.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance of Verizon building facilities associated infrastructure.
  • Manage customer liaison associated to facilities activities and responsibilities.
  • Performing and/or managing vendor repairs on all HVAC, Generators, Switchgear, UPS, Fire Suppression, Lighting, Security, DC Power plants and AC Power Electrical systems.
  • Ensuring our standards are implemented in everyday activities.
  • Ensuring we continue to meet all environmental standards, laws and best practices.
  • Maintaining equipment used to support our disaster relief efforts such as generators and HVAC systems both portable and stationary.
  • Maintaining building management systems.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment for you, our team and our network.
  • Maintaining equipment maintenance records, Vendor associated documentation, facilities documentation and reports in an orderly manner.
  • Manage vendors work, invoices and contracts.
  • Travel on a regular basis to our different data centers.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A Degree.
  • Two or more years work experience in one or more: AC Power, DC Power, HVAC, UPS and Backup Generators.
  • 24/7 availability to address facilities associated events.
  • Ability to work after hours to perform maintenances.
  • Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.) periodically.
  • HVAC Certification and/or chiller experience.
  • Basic understanding of electricity.
  • Knowledge and experience with building automation/controls or BMS.
