What you’ll be doing...

  • Subject Matter Expert and Third tier support:

The PMTS will be responsible for acting as a subject matter expert who provides technical leadership and training with regard to Charging and IMS applications (such as Online Charging System (OCS), Offline Charging System (OFCS), and Subscriber Database Management (SDM)) and 5GC Stand Alone (SA) applications in the Maintenance Engineering organization. The support will be provided during planning, staging, first office application (FOA), commercial deployment, and continued maintenance to a variety of teams that include Area/Regional Operations, Network Implementation, Product Development, HQ Network Planning, National Network Operations, Information Technology, Revenue Assurance, and other Maintenance Engineering groups in order to fulfill complex business requirements.

  • Roadmap, Lab and FOA:

The PMTS will prime planning, design, equipment selection, staging, testing, and integration of new system hardware and software. The PMTS will work with the vendor to develop and implement product. The PMTS will support Product Development teams in the submission of requests for new product functionality. The PMTS will actively manage VZ and vendor lab environments in which they will test and refine new hardware/software before approval for installation in the production environment. The PMTS will lead operational teams in the FOA process for the first installation of new hardware/software.

  • Design consistency, standardization and reliability:

The PMTS will create and publish functional and technical requirements. The PMTS will analyze hardware/software design, features and enhancements in order to develop test plans which effectively confirm the successful deployment and operation of the product. The PMTS will have full knowledge of system architectures, system operations, end-to-end designs and device-system interactions in order to develop troubleshooting guides to be used by all other Network organizations.

  • Administrative management:

The PMTS will provide administrative management of the monitored products. This management requires the PMTS to negotiate Service Level Agreements, Statements of Work and General Purchasing Agreements. The PMTS will review vendor performance regularly in order to ensure technical compliance with agreements. When necessary the PMTS will be involved in the collection of penalties from the vendor for non-compliance. The PMTS will be challenged to minimize the cost of all new capital purchases as well as actively reduce existing vendor expense costs "year over year".

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in the wireless industry.
  • Experience with SIP and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with IMS systems.
  • Experience with end-to-end call flows of 4G Networks.
  • Experience with UNIX/Red Hat Linux.
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with Virtualized Network Function (VNF) and Openstack.
  • Knowledge of 5GC applications and functionality.
  • One or more years of vendor management experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Project management, problem solving, and leadership abilities.
