What you’ll be doing...

A senior level engineer that leads development efforts for workflow automation and human task management in this space. This position requires high level thinking, solid knowledge of the Service Assurance automation architecture, solid knowledge of Network Management Service Assurance, and technical automation principles that can transform the architecture into automation workflow and human based task fallout. This position will also require working with Network NRB, NOC and SP engineers to understand their current processes, and how those processes can be transformed to allow for workflow automation and human based task fallout without sacrificing network availability as well as providing the ability to scale the platform to handle our full subscriber base.

You will be managing end-to-end aspects of Network Personalization program which is part of the Verizon 1 on 1 effort. The candidate will directly contribute to building out the platform where we will Leverage the depth of our customer and network data to provide experiences built around network, service, and recognition that anticipate and deliver on their specific wants and needs. We are building data aspects of the Data Lake, we are building out a serving layer that will perform and scale providing visibility to our API layers that will feed into the CARE, TAG and NRB centers. The project will also consist of evolving our traditional database storage platform into a streaming and big data platform leveraging the Data Lake and Hadoop technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the overall backend, frontend and systems strategy which includes Systems Applications back-end and front-end reporting tools, Hadoop Big Data ecosystem, all needed analytical platforms and related ETL and/or data virtualization landscapes.
  • Design and develop architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards.
  • Liaise within the teams and guide the department on how systems and data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and Information Systems, as well as provide technology stacks and frameworks for any applications using or processing that data.
  • Constantly monitor emerging trends and technology related to information creation and drive pilots of such technologies when/where appropriate.
  • Define the process for our DevOps Tool chain integrations between products.
  • Frequently hold Code Reviews with the team to provide insight on architecture and proper design implementation.
  • Guide the team in following industry standards in the Agile Development process. For each Sprint or timebox, deliver (minimally viable Code) that reflects all of the functional requirements/User Stories designated for that Sprint or timebox as well as all functions existing in the Code previously (i.e. no regression). The requirements for this project are in the form of “User Stories”.
  • Provide ability to release code in an Agile SCRUM philosophy focusing on CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment) principals.
  • Assess the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.
  • Provide guidance and implementation methods that will be used to comply with Verizon standards and policies for CPNI, CPI-810, Security as well as others.
  • Responsible for maintaining Quality Management Procedures to validate adequate quality procedures. Responsible for maintaining Configuration Management Procedures to validate that its quality procedures are adequate. Monitor and audit adherence to the stated policies, practices, and procedures implemented.

Interact with Internal and External IT organizations to develop automations architecture. Interact with vendors to identify IT solutions that will integrate into Service Assurance architecture.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience leading development teams.
  • Experience developing in the Hadoop framework (Spark, Pig).
  • Experience in distributed architecture design.
  • Experience in using DevOps tools Jira, Jenkins, Selenium, Artifactory.

Even better if you'll have:

  • Master degree in Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • Eight or more years of experience in Java development.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, optimization techniques and dynamic programming concepts.
  • Experience with Springboot, AngularJS and NodeJS.
  • Experience creating an enterprise architecture (application, data, and technical) that is aligned to business and IT imperatives.
  • Streaming data tools and techniques such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, NiFi, Microsoft Streaming Analytics.
  • CI/CD Continuous Integration and Deployment using Agile Methodologies.
  • NoSQL environments such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase.
