What you’ll be doing...

The Corporate Systems Group (CSG) has an opening for a SQL Reporting/Developer responsible for strategy and implementation of systems solutions that support Verizon’s Inventory Accounting platform.


This position reports to the Supervisor - System Analyst & Programmer in the Corporate Systems Group. Responsibilities include various day to day functions supporting monthly close as well as related project driven activities and involve system administration, end user support, and interaction with accountants and IT staff.

  • Provides financial system support for all Accounting and Finance teams during and between book closes, maintaining financial data integrity/system mappings, researching data abnormities, and resolving any issues which arise during the close cycle.
  • Oversees the mailboxes and Help Desk to resolve issues or create trouble tickets with IT.
  • Manages tabling processes and insure data quality.
  • Identify areas for improvement opportunities to simplify and streamline.
  • Use and maintain SQL Queries.
  • Supports and maintain Inventory Systems applications while using various database/reporting tools (e.g. Oracle, Teradata, SAS, and Access).
  • Supports Sarbanes Oxley, ERP Security, internal and external audit requests.
  • Oversees security for various Accounting Systems and applications.
  • Administers account reconciliation application, including oversight of access security and management of enhancements and upgrades.
  • Supports project planning through analysis, synthesizing and documenting business requirements/processes from various business perspectives, test plan development and execution, and post-production support of system enhancements and maintenance work requests.
  • Performs assessments on current processes and provide recommended solutions or improvements.
  • Participates in performance tuning, software, hardware and tools upgrades.
  • Provides General Ledger and Inventory Systems support, training development, and delivery.
  • Processes monthly reference and data file loads into financial applications.
  • Maintains content for Inventory Accounting and other finance/accounting teams, perform site audits and plan for and test upgrades and enhancements.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including expert Excel and Access skills.
  • SQL Query Tool experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor in Science or Accounting with concentration in Finance, MIS, or IT related field.
  • Experience with Financial systems, procedures and verification, and solid understanding of financial statements and concepts.
  • Knowledge of ERPs (SAP, PeopleSoft) or processing financial data, including interface management experience and working knowledge of data warehousing, data transformation, or IT production support.
  • Experience developing and using digital tools such as RPA (robotic Process Automation).
  • Experience with reporting tools (Cognos, Teradata, Oracle databases).
  • Standard project management documentation techniques.
  • Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer-based focus.
  • Strong written and oral communications.
