What you’ll be doing...

The Consumer Public Relations Manager will be responsible for supporting proactive communications messaging, strategy, and execution for Verizon’s Consumer group. This includes traditional and experiential/out-of-the-box public relations, employee communications and integrated marketing efforts delivered through a mixture of tactics, channels and activities. You will work collaboratively and creatively while maintaining and developing relationships with national consumer and technology media groups.

In this creative and multidimensional position you will have extensive engagement and collaboration with key company stakeholders across the business. This will include groups such as: employee communications, integrated marketing, device marketing, market PR leads, social channels, owned and operated platforms, network leads, and with business ecosystem partners and manufacturers. You will help drive strategic announcements around consumer products and services, including new consumer tech products tied to 5G.

  • Serve as a communications expert with strong media relationships in consumer and/or tech and place strategic stories and drive campaigns across both traditional and new mediums.
  • Interface with internal groups, including Social, Marketing, Sponsorships, Employee Communications, Network, Business and Media groups and specific consumer product leads to drive narrative, garner national visibility and increase sales.
  • Outreach and ongoing collaboration with Verizon’s owned and operated properties to help promote, align with and/or reinforce campaigns.
  • Help prepare leaders and subject matter experts for interviews and speaking engagements for maximum results, including media training as needed.
  • Work closely with and manage PR agencies to develop messaging, events and experiences, as needed.
  • Align with corporate strategies and initiatives; help develop external campaigns that promote and position the company for the future.
  • Seek out new and unexpected opportunities for us to play and drive those forward.
  • Help manage crisis/issues management as needed.
  • Regular measurement and reporting out on campaign success.

You are a creative communications/public relations professional who has the ability to navigate strategically throughout the organization with a focus on measurable program success, including shifting consumer perception and driving the sales funnel on behalf of the consumer group. You’re an excellent communicator with a passion for making news and driving engagement. You are a strong team player with the ability to take ownership of your work. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you can adapt to changing priorities with ease.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Seven or more years of experience in consumer public relations or relevant field of media relations, marketing publicity and/or technology.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience bringing new consumer tech products/solutions to market.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, often conflicting priorities to successful completion.
  • Experience managing an agency and/or working at an agency.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build successful relationships with internal stakeholders, including those at the senior executive level.
  • Proven ability to understand complex business issues and how they impact the bottom line.
  • Strategic thinker capabilities with sound judgment and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • A proven ability to develop strategic public relations/marketing/communications programs and successfully execute upon them with measurable results.
  • Forward thinker capabilities with experience leading complex initiatives by working in a tightly integrated manner across business units and partner organizations.
