What you’ll be doing...

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely filing of State and Local Sales & Use, Gross Receipts/B&O, State & Local Excise, PUC Levies, E911, USF, and other Regulatory filings.
  • Analyze financial data from Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Revenue Accounting and Corporate Accounting.
  • Reconcile large data sets with the use of Excel, Excel Power Query and Microsoft Access.
  • Review transaction tax data to ensure it is accurate and analyze variances prior to sending data to 3rd party outsourcer for filing.
  • Responsible for reconciling all tax liability accounts.
  • Responsible for the review; analysis and streamline tax processes.
  • Perform special projects, as required, assigned by Manager.
  • Assist the exemption group with research, information needed and issuance of Resale and/or Exemption Certificates, as required.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in taxation, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline or CPA.
  • Three or more years of experience in the state and local tax compliance; or with an emphasis in state tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with large automated systems (i.e. billing, general ledger, and a/p).
  • Knowledge with automated tax systems. (Vertex, Taxware, etc.)
  • Experienced with SAP, PeopleSoft or other major accounting systems.
  • Tax research and audit experience.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
  • Knowledge of Sales and Use taxes, B&O and Regulatory taxes and Tax Accounting.
  • Knowledge of compliance processes and returns filings.
  • Ability to develop methods to streamline processes and develop tax planning strategies to minimize company's cash flow and overall tax burden.
  • Skill set to analyze billed taxes and tax accruals for discrepancies.
  • Ability to work withthird party vendors to manage refund opportunities and resolve tax disputes.
  • Capability to work with internal staff and external government agencies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
