What you’ll be doing...

The Wireline Operations Controls Center (OCC) provides provisioning, maintenance and dispatch support to the Retail, Wholesale and Enterprise business customer base and is open 24 hours, 365 days a year. We provide support for every product level from POTS service to Optical Carrier Systems. As a member of the operations center team you will be a part of a very high paced and customer focused work environment. The position requires strong leadership skills as well as team and personal accountability.

This position is for a Supervisor, Operations for the Circuit Provisioning Center (CPC) for the Northeast Region.


Supervise and lead a team of Toll Assignors and Special Assistants; ensures quality design, timely issuance, and technical support for Special Service, Carrier, and Ethernet circuits for MA & RI. The CPC team is responsible for preparing and issuing trunk, circuit and carrier, circuit designs. They select, assemble and assign items of equipment including interoffice and intra office facilities and central office equipment in accordance with standard designs or engineered designs. Coordinates with appropriate departments to ensure orders are processed expeditiously/correctly, escalates problems to responsible departments. Establishes and maintains effective labor relations in a union environment; coaches and develops personnel.

  • Supervise the daily activities of eleven or more direct reports in a union environment. Provide Administrative Assistants with leadership, guidance, knowledge, tools, training and opportunity to perform their job functions. Performs quality observations on every employee to ensure quantity and quality objectives are met.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including rotational weekends as necessary.
  • Recognizes/celebrates employee development. Conduct employee appraisals and communicate positive and negative feedback effectively. Ability to solve problems of moderate scope, effectively analyzes results and leads, motivates, develops and coach associates.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in dealing with a union workforce and knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Ability to manage a large team in technical product provisioning; strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of communication components (i.e., Verizon switches, routers, Ethernet, network Interface cards, etc.)
  • Ability to learn independently, prioritize work and handle several tasks simultaneously in a fast paced dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of Special Services design, TIRKS, NSOP, iVapp, Vrepair , COA/UUI, vBuild, LFACS. Knowledge with service orders, technical or supervisory. Problem solving skills to develop quick and sound solutions to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills with experience in communicating at all levels.
  • Ability to act as the customer advocate and escalate to all levels of management in order to drive a positive customer experience.
  • Decision making skills and the ability to succeed in a dynamic, highly visible environment.
