What you’ll be doing...

As a SeniorHealth & Safety Specialist youwill provide Subject Matter Expert support and oversight for all aspects of health and safety program development and implementation within their assigned geographic area of responsibility. You will work with EHS staff, various HQ teams, field management and line level employees to ensure compliance with applicable EHS laws and regulations, and company requirements, minimize risk of employee injury/illness and impacts to the environment, support changes in the business impacting EHS and achieve EHS and company-wide goals.

  • Developing and overseeing programs, monitoring and providing necessary SME support ensuring all aspects of the health and safety program are implemented and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Educating, ensuring awareness, developing and implementing training programs, as needed, ensuring safety work practices and company requirements are understood.
  • Auditing, identifying trends, addressing deviations and measuring overall program performance.
  • Researching, ensuring applicable regulations are understood and monitored for change that impacts the business, requiring action.
  • Providing support to the On-Call Duty and Crisis Management Teams, during serious events/incidents and safety emergencies impacting the business.
  • Interfacing and following up with outside agencies during planned/unplanned Government inspections, investigations and inquires.
  • Reporting on necessary facts and figures keeping EHS management and company leadership apprised of issues and program performance.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Health and Safety compliance experience with proven ability to oversee large geographic areas involving multiple facilities and diverse work groups.
  • Knowledge of federal and state occupational, health and safety regulations.
  • Expertise in electrical safety and/or fall protection.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental, Engineering or others related degrees with equivalent work experience.
  • Masters within Health and Safety.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Certified in OSHA Construction, Electrical Safety/NFPA70E, Fall Protection, Bucket Truck/Aerial Lift Operation, and RF Safety (non-ionizing).
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • General understanding of environmental regulations pertaining to CWA, CCA, EPCRA and RCRA.
  • Experience in the telecommunications or utility industries.
  • Project management skills including establishing plans, communicating with stakeholders, and managing resources and timelines to achieve project objectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
