The Finance Organization

FP&A Corporate and Business Unit Team

Move beyond compiling data and help tell the story behind the numbers. The Business Unit facing positions offer opportunities to drive better business partnering and insights, while growing your FP&A leadership and interpersonal skills. You are considered a business partner and your contributions will make a difference. You can have an impact on new business growth opportunities through development of business case scenarios.

  • Lead the development of the Business Unit Leader and CFO's strategic internal and external presentations including; those presentations to the Verizon Leadership Committee, Board of Directors, Rating Agencies and Advertising Agencies.
  • Leads multidisciplinary projects or initiative(s), creates formal networks with key decision makers involving coordination among internal groups.
  • Researches and gathers financial and other information to support presentations. Works with subject matter experts to validate content.
  • Prepare final monthly analyses of business trends and budget variance of financial results and Key Performance Indicators to be used in management reviews and strategic business analysis sessions.
  • Interpret and evaluate monthly analyses of business trends, including budget variance of financial results and Key Performance Indicators to identify areas of risk and opportunities and provide recommendations.
  • Assess the impact of strategic financial decisions and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Design, develop and implement methods and strategies to continually improve processes.
  • Present and communicate to all levels of the business and have strong story telling capabilities.
  • Communicate with stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite with knowledge of Excel.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Experience in the technology and/or telecommunications industry.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
  • Experience creating conclusive analyses for c–Level executives with the ability to distill large amounts of data down to impactful insights.
  • Ability to publish analytics, business insights, and recommendations/course correction options on Strategic Initiatives and new service launches.
  • Understanding of corporate financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Familiarity with the preparation of General Ledgers, Basic Knowledge of FASB requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Proficiency in Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Hyperion Strategic Finance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to focus on the details.
