What you’ll be doing...

As The Manager - Program/Project Management, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of programs to drive cost elimination across the corporation. You will work with the Finance organization to establish financial goals and Senior Executives across the corporation to develop the programs and metrics for success. You will manage cross-functional teams across the corporation in idea generation, design thinking, program development, executive alignment, and program execution. You will work closely with the team to ensure the program status is tracked, monitored and reported in accordance with the program plan. You will demonstrate broad knowledge of the various Verizon business units. The Manager must possess program/project management skills, presentation preparation skills, executive communication skills, strategic thinking ability and must be able to quickly identify and communicate potential program concerns.

  • Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing programs, develops and monitors work plans, coordinates program activities, collaborates across the organization, and exercises indirect management over those responsible for specific functions or phases of program.
  • Handles executive reporting and presentation materials, including creation and maintenance of an executive dashboard to reflect project performance. Develops succinct storytelling and professional graphics to present executive-level strategic business initiatives.
  • Works through extensive, iterative processes to execute final deliverables from start to finish.
  • Develops and manages executive level timelines/critical path milestones to support day to day executive management and executive level reviews. Incorporates regular feedback into future deliverables.
  • Communicates project status to project stakeholders through development of weekly and monthly status reports. Maintains key program issues, clearly articulating impacts, next steps and owners. Identifies and resolves cross-functional issues that may impact deliverables and savings.
  • Creates reports and records of activities to communicate progress accomplishments toward specified program objectives and/or modifications or changes to the approach. Tracks and manage program risks and issues. Escalates project issues that cannot be resolved.
  • Gathers information to share with Business Leaders about project/program health, metrics and status.
  • Develops understanding of the business functions and issues as they relate to the success of the program.
  • Conducts project retrospectives, compiles lessons learned and integrates into processes and templates.
  • Has a high level of initiative and independent decision-making ability.
  • Establishes relationships with project managers and representatives from Business Transformation, Finance, Network, Supply Chain, HR, Employee Communications, Employee Relations, IT, Legal and other organizations.
  • Possesses negotiation skills to ensure all various needs and commitments are satisfied.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Project/Project Management experience.

Even better if you have:

  • An MBA.
  • Five or more years of Program/Project Management with a focus on large-scale programs.
  • Experience in creating and driving programs of change.
  • Experience in project management tools and graphic design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and Google Apps.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Incredible organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to quickly create and modify complex presentation materials for executive review.
  • Solid track record of exceeding targeted results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems effectively.
  • Ability to establish plans, monitor and report on program/project status.
  • Capability to clearly and regularly communicate status, issues, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Solid ability to identify, develop and quantify any required corrective action plans.
  • Ability to work accurately under time constraints; ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an environment with frequently changing business needs.
  • Considerable judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Capability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple-to-understand ways, particularly financial information.
  • Comfort in working up and across the organization – working with executive staff within and across the organization.
  • Experience handling extremely confidential information appropriately.
