What you’ll be doing...

We constantly seek to enhance the customer experience with our innovative technologies and world-class service. That’s where you come in. You’ll coordinate testing and turn up services with all involved providers to ensure that customers’ issues are resolved faster and more efficiently. Your role will involve maintaining our new and existing circuits through various troubleshooting methods to isolate and resolve customer outages.

  • Maintaining backbones and network-to-network interfaces testing.
  • Performing installation and maintenance of circuits working closely with local partners and global network operations centers to resolve customer outages.
  • Dispatching of all standard and Ethernet CPE for customer installation and maintenance.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on all network transport and power equipment.
  • Maintaining the International Long Distance node.

Perform detailed equipment engineering and project management for the Verizon Domestic US IP networks, including the Edge Network, Public, Private and Internal management Core networks. Candidate will engineer and manage the creation of Detail Engineering Designs for technologies associated with Verizon’s Core IP networks including: Multi-Service Edge (MSE), Core, Transit Label and gateway routers; core network Ethernet switches & servers, and the supporting host of network ancillary and infrastructure equipment. Additionally candidate will provide leadership to a small contractor team responsible for engineering de-installs, and lead special projects.

Functional Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide leadership to off-shore contractors engineering equipment decommissions
  • Engineer detailed, often complex, technical instructions (I-SPECs) for new and existing technologies and order equipment/cables/hardware.
  • Coordinate/project manage project specific installation designs and physical installations.
  • Engineer/manage database (ICON, CoFEE, etc) updates, equipment configurations, card/port assignments/requirements, power mapping, cable running lists, floor space and rack placement, and detailed Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Interface with Operations and other Implementation organizations to obtain critical pre-engineering information, site specific data as well as redlines and other end of job information.
  • Insure that all engineering documentation (including ICON, Venue and CoFEE) is accurate and up-to-date for use by Install, Test, Implementation, Operations, Provisioning, Planning, Network Capacity Management, and Audit groups.

No stranger to a fast-paced, pressure-packed, high demand 24x7 network operations environment, you can juggle competing priorities and keep a laser-sharp focus on deliverables and timelines.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in TDM and Ethernet testers.
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays and to undertake work outdoors in changing seasonal conditions.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • CCNA or CCNP certification.
  • Telecommunications industry experience.
  • Experience in a 24x7 network operations center or in a global enterprise environment.

In addition:

  • A degreein area of engineering or relatedtechnical discipline.
  • Highly motivated, self-supervised, customer focused individual with organizational and leadership skills to push all projects to completion, using conflict resolution, facilitation, solution-driven analysis, superior communication and project methodology.
  • Understanding of telecom networks and related equipment a strong plus.
  • Excellent Excel, Word and other MS application skills a must.
  • Willingness to travel.
