What you’ll be doing...

The primary purpose of this position is to proactively provide support for overall network performance and design with emphasis on oDAS/iDAS solutions. Be able use a wide variety of tools to ensure optimal and reliable service for Verizon Wireless customers, as well as, constantly evaluate and improve performance trends and take action to investigate and resolve performance degradations.

The Engineer will also contribute to the RF Design of the regional cellular network and including but not limited to:

  • Search area issuance, candidate assessment, and approvals within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Redesign of mature network areas to maximize performance and minimize capacity constraints.
  • Performing oDAS/Micro Cell Design including antenna selection and placement.
  • Work with Area engineers and 3rd party designers on polygon designs
  • Partnering with System Performance to improve network performance for existing and emerging technologies.
  • Preparing timely FCC/FAA and FAS submissions.
  • Conducting data analysis of switch statistics and drive data by conducting drive testing for potential sites, new site integration, and system optimization.
  • Ability to use RF propagation and planning tools.
  • Conducting and overseeing field tests for potential sites.
  • Planning frequency assignments and identifying technical parameters for network growth.
  • Planning near term integration of new technologies for first applications in the network.
  • Identifying causes of RF interference and troubleshooting interference problems with system performance.
  • Contributing in the development of long term build plans.
  • Utilizing knowledge of CDMA, EVDO, LTE and microwave to contribute in network design.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
  • Knowledge of 5G, LTE and CDMA technologies.
  • Knowledge of LTE including VoLTE and RAN Networks.
  • Experience in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, MapInfo, Atoll.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.

Even better if you have

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Experience and certification on DAS OEM platforms such as Corning, Commscope, Teko/JMA, SpiderCloud, and Nokia MBI.
  • Leadership skills - commitment to excellence, demonstrating company values and policies, initiating action, accepting responsibility for results, and making quality decisions.
  • Flexible to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and seamlessly adjust to a dynamic, changing business environment..
  • Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand, compile, evaluate, and present complex data and solutions.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Python, Unix, scripting tools.
  • Knowledge of at least one data collection tool such as Datapro.
  • Knowledge of data analysis/post-processing tools such as Irisview, Windcatcher/Actix.
  • Knowledge of propagation and optimization modeling tools such as Planet, Atoll, ACP, DB Planner, IBwave.
  • Interacts professionally with customers (internal and external).
  • Takes ownership of issues and drives them to resolution.
  • Self-motivated and efficient with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, listening attentively, applying appropriate grammar, and integrating large volumes of information from multiple sources
