What you’ll be doing...

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for: collecting requirements, leading/negotiating discussion among multiple stakeholders, and building/delivering requiring data from multiple systems
  • Responsible for official KPI reporting on behalf of NSIRT for large scale initiatives.
  • This work involves being the "face" of reporting in meetings with other teams and business units, defining and documenting reporting requirements, providing internal and consumer support (including outside of normal office hours), and working closely with development teams.
  • The position requires extensive knowledge with strong networking and IT background in security operations and engineering familiar with IDS deployments and logging.
  • The IDS is a critical part of the NSIRTs teams function and needs additional resources to support the infrastructure large data sets and carries broad decision-making authority with regard to functional design, priority and delivery timelines.
  • These individuals are trusted to self-manage their workload and schedules.
  • Maintain IDS infrastructure and assist in deployment EOL IDS sensors on reporting criteria. Act as reporting owner on behalf of NSIRT (as assigned). Build/update dashboards and reports as requested.
  • Provide support for the assigned reporting area(s), including troubleshooting and end-user support.
  • Act as consultant to leadership and project owners to identify system involvement, data availability and to design reporting solutions for the stated need(s).
  • Research tools, best practices, and improve skills through self-learning. Look for gaps in existing reporting and proactively design solutions.
  • Working with peers and other systems/data teams, employee will identify means of tracking progress on various NSIRT initiatives. Example: NSIRT adds correlation rule to IDS alerts in Splunk as a notable event and needs to understand if it had the intended output and results for Screen watchers (EOG - Eyes on Glass) effect of reducing to System Performance teams. Employee would determine how best to measure this and what contributing details must be considered or shown.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in IDS technology (Cisco Suricata).

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Four or more years of experience in managing large cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies applied to project management.
  • Experience with Wireless/ Cellular/ Telecom technologies.
  • Experience with Splunk, UNIX, Linux, PERL scripting, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, Checkpoint Bluecoat, Firepower.
  • CISSP or related Security certifications.
