What you’ll be doing...

The Network Security Project Coordinator will be responsible for project lifecycle & execution. Specific focus is on project initiation, assessing project scope, identifying and engaging key resources, and ensuring on time delivery of project milestones. As a project management position, this role will also be responsible for managing cross functional initiatives across multiple business areas, project managers and/or technical leads. The end goal for this position is to help define, document and streamline initiatives that address long term security goals and immediate tactical threats to Verizon's security posture. The selected candidate will be tasked with providing effective and clear communications to both leadership and technical teams.

Additional responsibilities include managing the Network Security internal procurement lifecycle including tracking budgets, creating purchase orders, and managing receipt documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that project deliverables are met within schedule, budget and quality goals, while working with the Project Sponsors to establish overall project objectives and key metrics that are required to meet project goals.
  • Provides ongoing project management and coordination for assigned security projects while ensuring that the impacted teams clearly understand the desired security goals and benefits.
  • Coordinates and ensures the appropriate resolution of project issues and manages the cross-functional processes for assigned projects.
  • Provides support across functional and organizational boundaries. Communicates with other project team members to ensure a clear understanding of security objectives, policies and requirements.
  • Collaborates and builds relationships with Network, IT, Security and core business partners to enable continued security education and awareness around assigned initiatives and to improve overall relationships.
  • Tracks and provides regular project level metrics that will enable a clear understanding of the status of assigned projects and escalates to their supervisor and appropriate security leadership for guidance when adjustments / issues are encountered that pose risk to defined objectives.
  • Meet regularly with key project stakeholders and teams to provide ongoing project level status reporting.
  • Compile metrics and KPI’s from the Network Security teams as directed by management.
  • Works with supervisor and/or peers to manage and track requested budget items (e.g. hardware and Software purchases) through the financial process.
  • Track and document metrics, budget information, and other critical data as directed by Network Security leadership.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Knowledgeof IT project management concepts.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience managing medium cross-functional projects.
  • Experience in project management roles in business and/or technology management
  • Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management experience.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle processes including: Agile and traditional delivery models, coding, and code promotion.
  • Knowledge of Information Security policies.
  • Knowledge of Telecom industry data security compliance regulations, industry data security best practices, and payment and privacy data compliance regulations.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence project direction and departmental initiatives while working with multiple management levels.
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge with the full suite of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project (Or Google Suite).
  • Knowledge of Peoplesoft Finanicials software.
  • Knowledge of ticketing and project tracking solutions.
  • Experience of project accomplishments including successful medium scale project launches.
  • Knowledge of information security fundamentals as they relate to Information Security and protection of information assets.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and budget management.
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
