What you’ll be doing...

You will be working for one of the most cutting-edge groups in Verizon focused on building Augmented and Virtual Reality systems. You will be working on a team to create, implement, and maintain next-generation immersive audio & XR solutions leveraging 5G & MEC strategic platforms. You will be responsible for writing code, assisting with software architecture, generating IP, and creating PoCs for rollouts of industry-leading technical systems and solutions.

  • Creating and maintaining an XR immersive audio engine for use in VR/AR/XR products & PoCs.
  • Writing features for our custom audio engine.
  • Software architecture.
  • Working closely with other developers, team leads, project managers, UX designers, QA, and other engineering teams, while taking direction from product and team management to oversee and advise code development & deployment for state of the art XR products.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Ten or more years of experience with C++/C.
  • Ten or more years of software development experience.
  • Six or more years of software development experience for realtime & advanced audio systems.
  • Proven experience with spatial and 3D audio (HRTF, binaural rendering, ambisonics).
  • Experience with OpenAL, OpenSLES, CoreAudio and other audio frameworks.
  • Software development experience for XR and distributed systems.
  • Experience developing for common VR & AR platforms.
  • Experience developing for multiple operating systems & platforms, including Windows, Android, iOS & Linux.
  • OO programming & design.
  • Experience with OTT communications technology including WebRTC.
  • Experience with audio coding & codecs, specifically WAV, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and others.
  • Experience with streaming audio systems (UDP, RTP, etc.).
  • Algorithms, DSP, Frequency domain processing & FFT.
  • Granted patents and experience with IP creation.
  • Ability to develop audio engines from scratch.
  • Proven experience working in multiple programming languages.
  • Experience with mass market & custom game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc.).
  • Experience with game audio Middleware (Wwise, FMOD, etc.).
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Experience and comfort working in Agile work environments.
  • Experience writing audio DSP plugins for DAW or game engines.
  • Proven experience in audio production, mixing mastering, and technical sound design
  • Working knowledge of Psychoacoustics.
  • Working knowledge of Machine Learning & Music Information Retrieval (MIR).
  • Knowledge of graphics systems & engines.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured documentation, and effectively communicate with developers, external contacts, and leadership.
  • Authorship of technical publications.
  • Proven ability to prioritize development tasks with management.
