What you’ll be doing...

This role will be responsible for project implementation of technology roll-outs, with the initial primary focus on the 5G implementation and roadmap. You will use advanced level knowledge to drive decisions that affect technology planning, vendor management, budgeting and forecasting, and end-to-end implementation. You will interface with cross-functional groups to coordinate needed resources, and develop strategies for issue escalation and resolution. This role will not be limited to5Gand will take on additionalprojects/responsibilities based on business needs.


  • The end-to-end implementation of the Upstate NY 5G NR rollout. Functions include: leading a cross-functional team from RF/SP, Engineering and Network Assurance to establish and maintain the NE 5G Implementation Plan; establishing and managing the budgetary needs and alignment with capital POR; and developing/ implementing corrective action plans to mitigate all issues/impacts to the project schedule and overall business objectives.
  • Managing vendor activities aligned to our implementation goals. It should be noted that due to both the nascent nature of 5GNR technology, plus learning curve Samsung faces as they establish themselves as a Verizon network vendor, the vendor management will require much more attention and effort for the NE 5G implementation, and this role will be expected to identify and resolve any gaps in design and support that this situation presents.
  • You will be responsible for extensively partnering with Maintenance Engineering, HQ Planning and Territory Planning on strategic and tactical issues. Function includes: support of all FOAs and field testing, implementation of technological and feature roadmaps, and longer-term planning to stay abreast of the network needs for evolving technologies.
  • You will also provide support, mentor, share lessons learned to further develop the skillsets of the PMO team members and work with HQ/Territory and other Markets to identify, implement, and expand best practices.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with wireless network design and implementation and strong vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of 5G technology and network design.
  • Experience in planning, forecasting and project management.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Knowledge of the current 4G evolution, open CPRI and related technology drivers.
  • Computer skills and some experience with reporting tools, databases, data design and UIs.
  • Ability to managemultiple project initiatives at the same time.
  • Ability to solve problems practically and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Highly motivated, organized, self-starter and team player with ability to work in a highly focused, team-centric environment.
