What you’ll be doing...

The work you’ll be doing will be to develop and support internal applications that support our Wholesale and LTE in Rural America customers. . You will be responsible for leading large and complex business initiatives based on contractual agreements for Wholesale and delivering best in class customer experience. You will interact daily with business partners in Wholesale Marketing, Network, and Revenue Assurance and Finance teams. You will guide IT team members for time boxed delivery of prioritized business functionality incorporating high quality. Leading multiple projects using on-site and off-shore resources to maintain and develop applications for both enterprise releases and smaller maintenance releases.

  • Conducting impact analyses on production defects and being a part of the solution.
  • Performing hands-on coding work on projects to introduce new modular, reusable Service/API or enhancing the existing ones.
  • Performing engineering tasks associated with the analysis, design, and development of computer hardware, firmware, embedded systems, and/or operating systems.
  • Potential Point of contact for IT Transformation efforts: SWISH, cloud migrations, DevSecOps.
  • Must attend CMD bridges on outages and prepare root cause analysis when required.
  • Must be available 24x7 if escalations on production issues warrant it.

As a Senior Member of the Technical Staff you’ll analyze architecture, relationship between systems, and systems flow of end-to-end designs, guide others to assess system usage trends and identify potential performance constraints with inter-system designs.

  • Use complex algorithms to develop systems & applications that deliver business functions or architectural components.
  • Develop system architecture that improve designs & mapping form to function.
  • Educate team members about integrating systems collaboratively & efficiently.
  • Homogenize the performance of the database and optimize system resources.
  • Encrypt sensitive information to protect the database from corruption.
  • Validate that programs are operating on clean, correct and useful data.
  • Execute and modify QTP scripts with traceability functionality.
  • Test business processes/products across applications with an end-to-end process flow.
  • Write scripts to develop programs that improve processing of access requests.
  • Reduce security threats with dependable & reliable security tools & software applications.
  • Evaluate how security impacts the design & development process of reliable networks.
  • Understand a given solution to assess its alignment with business needs.
  • Assess how the competition differs from Verizon’s current state and update Verizon operations.
  • Communicate the business value of technical solutions.
  • Discover mutually beneficial solutions across customers while recognizing different styles.
  • Manage onsite technical escalations of developers regarding code merge, promotions, escalations for lack of inputs from other teams and resolve technical challenges with innovative solutions.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Java development experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Five or more years of experience in JAVA/J2EE Programming/ Object Oriented Programming experience (JAVA Full stack developer), Web Services
  • Four or more years of experience in Scripting (Unix & Perl & AWK)
  • Two or more years of working experience on designing and architecting IT solutions.
  • Two or more years of working experience with Linux and Windows Server platforms
  • Two or more years of working experience with GIT/Stash, Jenkins, continuous integration
  • Experience with Security, Fortify/Web Scans, 3rd party open source libraries
  • Working experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations and lead cross-functional teams
  • Communication & stakeholder management skills
  • Problem solving skills to develop quick yet sound solutions to resolve complex issues
  • Willingness to work with non-programming platforms and programming platforms.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in enterprise-class software development and agile methodology.
  • Strong knowledge around SOX audits requirements.
  • Ability to manage and negotiate with required internal and external organizations.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools.
