What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Connect has an immediate need for a Senior Systems Engineer with strong Windows experience to join our existing team of Systems Engineers within the Development Operations team. This role will help facilitate the deployment, maintenance and performance tuning of our award-winning SaaS application as we migrate from on-premise datacenter infrastructure to an entirely AWS cloud native infrastructure.

  • Contribute to the automation of the CICD deployment pipeline by updating the deployment modules and cloud formation templates.
  • Maintain/Monitor/Remediate middleware applications in AWS (Any Linux related issues) (Chef, RMQ, NIFI, Bamboo, Packer).
  • Manage the day to day operations of the Verizon Connect platform in AWS.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 20012R2 and 2016 with experience in the following areas:
    • Design, configuration and management of Active Directory.
    • Use of PowerShell to manage and maintain Microsoft environments.
    • Planning, orchestration and implementation of windows server patching across multiple datacenters using WSUS or 3rd party patching tools.
    • Design configuration and management of Microsoft services (Failover Clustering, DNS, DHCP, SMB, WDS, IIS).

Even better if you have:

  • BSc computer science/engineering or higher.
  • Excellent Microsoft Hyper-V skills with extensive experience in the following areas
    • Installation and configuration of Hyper-V.
    • Implementation of fail over clustering.
    • Installation, management and configuration of Virtual Machines, virtual hard disks etc.
  • Management of virtual machine movement and Hyper-V Replica.
  • Installation and configuration of Virtual Machine Manager.
  • Six or more years of proven experience as Systems Engineer in a Windows/Linux environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting ability on all aspects of the Networking Stack.
  • Experience working in an operating system agnostic infrastructure (Windows/Linux).
  • Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated excellent communications skills to clearly articulate complex technical issues to all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical).
  • Current Microsoft, AWS, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, ITIL and/or equivalent certification(s).
