What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the monitoring, testing, preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC infrastructure equipment and associated electrical, alarming and monitoring systems per specifications and operational procedures in Verizon Network Facility locations. You will perform maintenance and repair of the physical facilities structures, security and peripheral systems. You will handle the emergency power backup systems and physical facility remedies at all technical facilities. You will be a first responder during natural disasters or any facilities threat to the network’s integrity. Area of responsibility to include Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Indiana and Kentucky.

  • Performing maintenance on Verizon HVAC infrastructure.
  • Performing and/or managing vendor repairs on all HVAC, Generators, Switchgear, UPS, Fire Suppression, Security, DC Power plants and AC electrical systems. This includes roofs, plumbing, electrical and building maintenance.
  • Ensuring our standards are implemented in ever day activities.
  • Ensuring Verizon Business continues to meet all OSHA, State and Federal environmental standards, laws and best practices.
  • Creating new ways, as well as maintaining existing efforts to support the carbon footprint reduction across the network.
  • Maintaining equipment used to support our disaster relief efforts such as backup generators and HVAC, both portable and stationary.
  • Maintaining building management systems.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment for yourself, our team and the network.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have –

  • A bachelor’s degree or one or more work experience
  • HVAC Certification
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Certification or ability to obtain
  • A valid driver’s license

Even better if you have:

  • A degree (preferably a technical/electrical degree and/or two or more years of work experience in AC/DC power, HVAC, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), lighting and generators).
  • The ability to climb ladders.
  • Capability to carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of electricity.
  • Experience with building automation controls (building management systems).
  • Commercial HVAC experience.
  • One or more years of facilities experience
