What you’ll be doing...

The Business Operations Manager will report to the Director of Business Transformation (BT) and will work with the business unit and functional leaders within the Verizon Business Group (VBG) organization. The selected candidate will be an integral part of the BT leadership team and have direct accountability to manage the day to day operations of the BT organization and deliver on a wide variety of strategic and transformative projects and key support functions.


  • Interact regularly with BT leadership team and maintain cross-functional relationships to enable leadership success.
  • Be a trusted advisor to the BT leadership team while organizing and steering key messages for the team; Identify or create simplified narratives for complex messages.
  • Influence peers and senior leaders to meet aggressive delivery milestones and short-term projects, while building positive relationships.
  • Support the formulation of BT strategy and help identify and drive the development of key initiatives that align with VBG and Corporate VZ strategy.
  • Support inquires directed to the VP to determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate individual and/or assist in directly addressing inquiries or in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for Executive reporting and presentation materials. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring preparation, coordination and facilitation of meetings, develop charters and agendas and disseminate key outcomes, decisions, and actions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Craft messaging and communications that clearly articulates the BT value proposition and priorities, and helps energize, engage and align the BT team.
  • Execute against tight timelines to ingest data and provide feedback to the organization.

Integration Management

  • Identify and manage dependencies and interdependencies between projects. Work with the Project Sponsors and/or Product Owners in the planning of projects. Provide business operational support and for internal business projects and programs from inception to completion.
  • Partner cross-functionally across the organization to ensure appropriate management and successful outcomes. Integrate project plans across projects.
  • Create and Maintain executive dashboard to reflect project performance.
  • Understand and analyze various drivers impacting key organizational metrics and outcomes, including headcount and staffing.
  • Provide senior leadership and functional unit management with updates on project status, key metrics, issues, and risks.
  • Serve as a liaison between Finance, HR, IT, Legal and the business units on projects that have a multi-organization or business unit scope.
  • Support recruitment, talent acquisition and development of the BT team.
  • Vendor Management - Provide status and support the management of investment and relationship with vendors. Support the procurement process in conjunction with strategic sourcing.

Budget Management

  • Manage monthly budget reporting with agency and internal business units.
  • Develop spend projections with internal finance teams.
  • Provide weekly reporting to senior management to garner approvals on invoices.
  • Develop quarterly best views of all budgets to ensure finance is accruing to accurate totals.

You are comfortable in working up and across the organization and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You have the ability to work independently and proactively anticipate work requirements of the VP and leadership team. You are a strategic and analytical thinker who can analyze data to make appropriate process/business decisions/recommendations and shape business strategy.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Finance or project management background.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area such as Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a related field.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience in Strategy, Finance, Customer Experience or Business Transformation in B2B segments (e.g. Enterprise, Small/Med Business, Public Sector, Wholesale).
  • Quantitative and analytical skills, including ability to conduct outside/inside research, analyze data, and use MS Excel effectively to develop models and drive analyses.
  • Experience in Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including ability to create presentations using MS PowerPoint and experience presenting to all levels of an organization.
  • Strong business acumen.
