What you’ll be doing...

This position sits within the Verizon Enterprise Services (VES) Information Technology team where you will work on new technologies and find ways to meet our customers’ needs, tomake it easy for them to do business with us. You will use functional expertise to act as an advisor to management and make recommendations on complex projects. You will use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems creatively and practically.

You will work fairly independently on more complex operational & technical projects, issues, systems and applications. You will use your experience, expertise and skills to solve problems that are more difficult & infrequent.

Overall Scope

  • Develop modern quoting and ordering applications
  • Support launch of 5G, SDN and Advanced Communication products into global markets
  • Leverage Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotic Process Automation
  • Use agile, DevOps and continuous delivery methodologies
  • Drive innovation and evolution

Analysis & Design

  • Collaborate with users and business functions to shape and evolve epics and user stories
  • Participate in various process steps within the software development lifecycle
  • Support usage assessments and interface design tasks
  • Analyze architecture, relationship between systems, and systems flow of end-to-end designs
  • Guide others to assess system usage trends and identify potential performance constraints with inter-system designs
  • Evaluate solution’s alignment with the end user experience

Software / Application Development & Architecture

  • Use complex algorithms to develop systems and applications that deliver business functions or architectural components
  • Develop system architecture that improve designs and mapping form to function
  • Educate team members about integrating systems collaboratively and efficiently
  • Coding with state of art programming languages and tools

Database Analysis & Design

  • Support database monitoring activities
  • Perform data queries and basic analyses
  • Homogenize the performance of the database and optimize system resources
  • Encrypt sensitive information to protect the database from corruption
  • Validate that programs are operating on clean, correct and useful data

Testing

  • Test simple to complex projects
  • Unit tests, system tests and integration tests in distributed software architecture
  • Testing automation
  • Test business processes/products across applications with an end-to-end process flow

Production & Operation

  • Automated production deployment
  • Analyze & resolve in case of production issues
  • Learn from production feedback about stability and performance to drive application evolution

Technical Product Knowledge

  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of various products or solutions
  • Keep abreast of current industry trends and their impact on own and team’s initiatives
  • Understand a given solution to assess its alignment with business needs
  • Assess how the competition differs from Verizon’s current state and update Verizon operations

Technical Communication

  • Assist in the documentation of system performance
  • Document business problems and technical work processes followed during work activities
  • Communicate the business value of technical solutions
  • Understand user requirements and provide mutually beneficial solutions across IT and Customers
  • Assist in generating design specifications/business case

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar subject,or equivalent work experience
  • Experience inusingJava, Javascript or Python
  • Experience in SQL or non-SQL databases like Oracle or Mongo DB
  • Knowledge of system interfaces with REST, SOAP or IBM MQ
  • Experience in working with data structures/formats in XML, JSON and HTML
  • Experience in working with version control systems such as Git, CVS, Subversion or Mercurial
  • Experience in both Windows and Unix based environments
  • A focus on success and customer experience, ability to work autonomously, dedicated to leading edge IT technology
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills to work across organizations and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Previous exposure to working with outsourcing partnersand offshore models
  • Experience in cloud environments such as AWS
  • Knowledge of conversational bot platforms such as Alexa or Google Assistant
  • Experience in AI/ML platforms such as Tensor Flow or Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit
  • Experience in working with application platforms like Weblogic, iPlanet, Tomcat or node.js
