What you’ll be doing...

Responsible for planning, building, implementing, administering, and maintaining ORACLE databases in the Network Support Systems (NSS) organization. Builds and successfully integrates complex, multi-Terabyte OLTP and Data Warehousing ORACLE databases with minimal supervision. Ensures optimal database performance through exhaustive pre-service testing and ongoing real-time monitoring. Troubleshoots issues to resolution.

Works directly with internal customers to plan, evaluate, design, and implement databases that support Network Department in accordance with team and company standards. Documents business and technical requirements. Creates technically viable, cost-effective system designs and develops customer-focused implementation strategies.

Provides tasks and timelines to support the creation of project plans with appropriate updates for those tasks throughout the project lifecycle. Performs On-Call duties as assigned on a rotational basis. Occasional overnight travel to other company work locations as required.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Oracle RMAN (backup and recovery), RAC, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, Data Guard, and Grid Control.
  • ORACLE DBA experience.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.

Even better you will have:

  • A degree.
  • ORACLE DBA experience in an enterprise environment with emphasis on 2-tiered and 3-tiered architecture.
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata and Golden Gate.
  • Experience in MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience in troubleshooting databases for performance.
  • Two or more years’ ORACLE 11g SQL development including package/procedure/trigger/XML development in a multi-user production environment.
  • Three or more years’ experience with the UNIX operating system, on Solaris/Linux platforms using Korn Shell, AWK, SED and common system functions.
  • One or more years’ experience in creating and maintaining UNIX shell and Perl scripts.
  • Provide maintenance support for database systems during afterhours.
  • Provide weeklong on-call database support for all production databases on a rotation basis.
  • Willing to learn new technologies in a short time and implementing them.
  • Excellent with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access.
  • Knowledge of wireless network engineering principles and standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail.
