What you’ll be doing...

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the creation of strategy and overseeing the implementation of tactics regarding external content/communications designed to support the Verizon brand. Verizon is the recognized leader in 5G and this person would be joining the communications team that will help bring to market (for consumers and businesses) the technology that will change how we live, work and play. Key emphasis is on working with the VP and directors in External Communications to develop – from launches to post-sale support – effective communications materials featuring the Verizon customer experience across multiple platforms, to act as a resource for various leadership teams across Verizon Business Group, and help lead them through the lifespan of communications supporting Verizon’s products, services and technology.

Included in these responsibilities are aggressively and pro-actively executing on strategy and tactics that create engaging content for key influencers, media, bloggers and other critical external audiences around the world through the development of impactful narratives for target audiences across multiple platforms. Accountable for the Company brand, this individual will evangelize the business, its products, solutions, content, pricing, executives and other resources to elevate Verizon‘s overall external communications efforts.

The position is based at Verizon’s headquarters location in Basking Ridge, NJ.

  • Passion for media relations and story creation. This person could be a former journalist (comfort on TV a plus) or an experienced PR professional with technology and/or consumer brand experience.
  • Deeply understand network technology – including software-defined networking, multi-edge computing, 5G, etc. – and be able to create external communications products (media plans, pitches, bylines, videos, etc.) that focus on the value of these technologies for our customers.
  • Package news with messaging, content and in a format that speaks to a specific audience. We make national announcements that are deeply relevant to local audiences. We have technology that matters to individual consumers, small businesses and large corporations and government organizations. We’re looking for a person that takes one story and makes it several individual stories for these specific audiences.
  • Public-facing spokesperson able to deliver Verizon’s message in compelling fashion and be seen as a subject matter expert and go to resource for quotes or live broadcasts by editors, producers, etc.
  • Design and fuel comprehensive and compelling multimedia stories that feature the Verizon customer experience for Verizon‘s News Center, incorporating best practices in story creation that can be extended to the company’s leading social platforms and properties (including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Slideshare, etc.).
  • Lead the process of transforming a creative idea into an influential multidimensional campaign, including extending the story through editorial calendars, articles on News Center, messaging for social platforms, etc.
  • Serve as editorial lead on specific campaigns/accounts, coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that standards for reliable, accurate and quality content development are met.
  • Instill and exemplify a culture of editorial excellence, accountability and problem-solving.
  • Stay aware of content/communications and trends to best service internal stakeholders.

What we’re looking for...


  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • A diverse range of professional experience, including 5+ years of journalism, media, communications or technology experience
  • 6+ years of digital storytelling experience or interactive engagement experience (e.g. online publishing, digital marketing/advertising)
  • Comfort on camera or in live interview situations
  • In-depth knowledge of best-in-class content approaches
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging social media channels/trends, and social expertise on multiple platforms
  • Ability to plan and execute complex projects both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Significant project and program management experience
  • Highly creative with outstanding written communication skills, problem solving, decision making and analytical abilities
  • Superior writing and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to travel <25%


  • B2B technology or major consumer/retail brand experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Content creation skills strongly preferred
  • Video and imaging skills strongly preferred
  • Candidates with a diverse background encouraged
  • Preferred experience within a Fortune 100 environment, with a U.S.-based multinational company
