What you’ll be doing...

This position is for the Wireless Maintenance Engineering Lab Operations Team.

Primary responsibilities:

Implementing network installations, modifications, configuration on new/existing equipment, analyze requirements for network connectivity, documenting, and troubleshooting the lab network.

Work closely with Maintenance Engineers to create and validate designs, test plans, products, services, platforms, and MOPs to meet the transport requirements of the MTCE Lab network but not limited to RAN, EPC, IMS, and VoLTE network applications and directional technologies such as 5G, IoT, Edge Computing, VCP, etc.

Support MTS-IV lab engineers and assist lab customers on a daily basis.

Proactively work with the team to ensure documentation is created/updated, holding training sessions to keep overall knowledge of the team to a high standard, delegating tasks amongst the transport team, handling projects and tickets as needed, providing RCA’s when needed, and always thinking of ways to improve the stability of the lab transport network for production network testing and validation.

What we’re looking for...

The Wireless Maintenance Engineering Lab Team is looking for a self-motivated and forward-thinking engineer to support the E2E Lab Transport Infrastructure (OTNGN, eNSE, MSE, Converged Core, Nuage Networks, EBH, etc). This individual should be a self-starter with a leadership mindset to proactively seek out and solve potential issues before they impact lab customers. We’re looking for an individual that will provide guidance to fellow employees and lab customers on a daily basis ensuring all teams in Maintenance Engineering are always well informed.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Unix/Linux or shell scripting.
  • Experience/Knowledge in OTNGN, eNSE, MSE, and EBH.
  • Experience with Syslog servers such as Graylog.
  • Experience with tools such as Wireshark.
  • Knowledge and experience working and troubleshooting TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, VXLAN, QOS, AAA, TACACS.
  • Experience and knowledge of IPv4/IPv6.
  • Knowledge and experience with SDN/NFV, Data Center technologies including automation and orchestration mechanisms.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Networking experience in service provider, wireless or telecommunications environment.
  • Experience/Ability to work on platforms such as:
    • Cisco – ASR 1Ks & 9Ks, CRS-8, Nexus 7ks.
    • Juniper – MX-series, QFX5100, SRX 3600 & 3800.
    • Nokia – 7705, 7750.
  • Project Management experience, ability to understand how the Lab Transport projects prioritize.
  • CCNP, CISSP, JNCIP certifications.
  • Experience with Security and Application products from Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Citrix, Juniper, AVI, and F5.
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting strategy and ability to provide timely and creative solutions to outage situations.
  • Splunk Experience/Certifications.
  • Experience with circuit troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Ansible.
  • Experience working with WIFI networks.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications evolving technologies.
  • Ability to communicate status, progress, and timelines effectively.
  • Excellent organization/documentation skills, using tools such as Visio and Confluence.
  • Strong organizational, development, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills.
