What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for program and project managementwithin the Employee Relations function. In particular, this position is responsible for driving and ensuring employee engagement and employee support in alignment with the broader HR function across the Verizon enterprise. This position leads and manages a team to ensure engagement, support and compliance with various state, federal and international laws and regulations. This position oversees the delivery of the Employee Assistance Program and Backup Care services, as well as the fitness for duty assessment process through a third-party vendor.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Leverage the employee assistance program and leads the team to deliver EAP resources to employees during times of crisis and for general work life issues; Support boarder company programs and initiatives designed to improve employee well-being and engagement.
  • Lead and leverage fitness for duty assessment process to ensure employees can return and perform their duties safely;
  • Serve as a key stakeholder within the business continuity function in preparing for and responding to events that impact our workplace, such as labor events, natural disasters, etc., by caring for HR related matters and, where necessary, managing employee assignments,training and deployment to assist with operations during such events.
  • Serve as a management representative on the union Work and Family Committees, and manages a team of administrators responsible for those committees.
  • Manage special projects as needed, such as Domestic Violence Awareness training and periodic workplace events or programs related to employee engagement, safety, wellness, or work/life balance.
  • Serve as a primary stakeholder for HR Compliance with existing and emerging paid sick, safe and family leave laws.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience in HR/Legal Compliance fields.
  • Understanding of federal and state employment, labor and safety laws;
  • Vendor management experience; ability to forge positive and productive partnership with vendor representatives to maximize the value of the services that vendor delivers to our employees
  • Experience effectively supervising others (whether through direct people leader experience or managing resources on a project team
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast paced multi-location environment. Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential topics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Ability to partner with stakeholders as necessary and influence others. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with key partners across HR, Legal, Security, etc., including senior leaders across the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cognos, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel occasionallyinternationally and domestically
