What you’ll be doing...

As the Associate Director you will be responsible for overseeing, leading, and managing Global Accounts Payable Operations for Digital Finance (including 1ERP), Audit, Period End and Reporting, integrating current and future digital initiatives into the overall strategic projects, controls and reporting thus providing cohesive leadership for all our digital, process automation, audit and reporting processes. You will directly assist the Director of Global Accounts Payable with executing the strategic vision of the organization. Specifics Include:

  • Leading a team of Twenty five or more employees, managing the operations for AP Digital Finance, Audit, Period End and Reporting in support of Finance 2.0.
  • Overseeing the 1ERP initiative to ensure alignment with Accounts Payable’s ERP requirements.
  • Aligning current and future digital transformations within Verizon 2.0 and AP strategic initiatives, including but not limited to 1ERP, 1 Sourcing, FTMO End to End process reengineering and KPI development and monitoring to support the North Star journey.
  • Leading all current and future automation projects through the digital finance initiative, including determination of strategic data architecture and tools required to support AP initiatives.
  • Overseeing support of SOX requirements and internal/external audit initiatives in addition to all audits and controls deemed as necessary for AP to mitigate overall risk and ensure process compliance throughout the organization.
  • Overseeing Period End functions to ensure efficient and effective operations are in place.
  • Overseeing reporting to internal and external stakeholders; including strategically enabling self-service options, creation and monitoring of value added KPIs, ad hoc reporting and overall AP metrics. Accounts Payables’ Cash Forecasting process, process improvement and relevant communications will also be within the position’s purview.
  • Providing program management of all M&A strategy and integration for Accounts Payable including involvement in all deal lifecycle stages including deal planning, cutover and execution of deal strategy to ensure minimal disruption to the business.
  • Interacting and providing guidance on policy and process decisions that integrate with Sourcing, Procurement, Accounting, FTMO, IT, and Verizon business operations teams.
  • Coordinating standardization and implementation of policies across AP to ensure Verizon controls and polices are being adhered to and monitored within the organization.
  • Managing Accounts Payables’ digital strategy to ensure it aligns with and strengthens security, authentication controls and appropriate system access.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience managing multi-function team of employees.
  • Three or more years of experience with SAP or PeopleSoft ERP applications.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree or Master’s degree in business, finance, or accounting.
  • Certification desired such as Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Accounts Payable Professional, or Project Management Professional.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable including processes, laws, taxation and financials along with internal Verizon policies and controls.
  • Ability to provide guidance in the translation of operational strategies and business plans into quantifiable Accounts Payable strategies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business partners and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet the needs of the business while promoting efficient operations (e.g., establish guiding principles, standards and controls).
  • Proven track record managing a diverse, multi-geographic, multi-functioned organization.
  • Strong analytical skills, including problem solving and root cause identification skills, to review results and present data in a manner that influences and drives the business to achieve strategic goals.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, movement of work, etc. preferred.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Project and MS Office, ability to create meaningful presentations to present ideas and obtain approval.
  • Strong project and program management skills, ability to manage all aspects of project management, including risk and contingency planning.
  • Experience utilizing relevant ERP, digital tools and support systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication (both oral and written) skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
