What you’ll be doing...

As a Consultant – Delivery Engineer, you will be part of Verizon’s Professional Services team and serve as a project management resource for Cisco UC implementation support.

Your focus will be on Verizon’s Unified Communications and Collaboration as a Service (UCCaaS) product. The Consultant II PS DE manages and takes ownership of complex customer projects in such a way that each project is accomplished to the satisfaction of the customer Statement of Work (SOW), on schedule, quality assured and within budget.

You will ensure that customer projects are planned, coordinated and communicated in a professional manner, keeping customer and internal stakeholders regularly informed of progress, and ensuring that all stakeholder expectations are managed and that customer committed dates are consistently met.

Working under the guidance and direction of a Sr. Manager and other, more experienced project delivery staff, the Consultant II provides the experience of managing the implementation of Cisco centric Unified Communications & Collaboration technologies to enterprise clients in the global theatre that includes network infrastructure (LAN/WAN), VOIP / IP Telephony, Cisco’s CUCM and associated technologies.

The Consultant provides support of customer solutions, Verizon PS focus on planning, designing, implementing, optimizing, and supporting managed deployments and other converged unified communications solutions to meet our customers’ needs. Additional support may include providing training and workshop activities, consulting services, and review of custom designs.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Primarily responsible for the on-time, on-budget, high quality deliverables of small to medium scale Unified Communications and IT infrastructure transformational projects for F500 customers
• Responsible for overall success of projects including fulfillment of the client business and technical requirements and adherence to the approved project scope and budget
• Consistently execute according to the Verizon Delivery Methods centered on the PMI delivery model
• Develop strong professional relationships with client and internal senior stakeholder(s) consistently demonstrating knowledge of the client business/industry and knowledge of Verizon’s Professional Services offering
• Demonstrate clear and consistent ownership and accountability for the delivery of the project / projects as represented in the Statement of Work, including, but not limited to:
requirements validation
project schedule development, management and tracking
resource management and time tracking
project financial management and tracking
project risk management
project issue management
project communication / reporting management
work with minimal supervision as an individual contributor
• Provide thought leadership around strategic direction and plans
• Provide leadership to the project / project teams and project managers, Coordinators and Consultants assuring all deliverables are being delivered on time, to quality and within budget
• Engagement of third party vendors where engaged on owned projects
• Work with other Verizon Project Management organizations to achieve the business outcome
• Assume responsibility for the overall success of a client project overseeing adherence to the approved project scope and budget

What we’re looking for...

Preferred Skills:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, CCNP/CCIE and4 or more years of IPT (preferably Cisco UC) Project Management work experience.
• Knowledge of IP Telephony and related services and products such as VOIP, MPLS, CPE, Managed Services, Hosted IPT
• CAPM or PMP Certification
• Skilled user of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, Sharepoint, and text editors.
• Ability to work on 24/7 and after normal business hours when required to support customer implementation activities

Desired Skills:

• A Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Systems related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Verizon's Professional Services offerings.
• Ability to manage competing and conflicting priorities.
• Detail-oriented and ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Experience working in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a self-directed work team.
• Training and experience in project leadership.
