What you’ll be doing...

The Project Engineer represents a custom blend of both delivery and project engineering responsibilities.

The candidate serves as a Team Administrator for the Verizon Professional Services organization and to its key clients to manage and take ownership of business and team administrative functions in such a way that internal and external customer enquiries are captured and managed in a timely way.

The Project Engineer provides Senior Manager and team administrative support for the Professional Services global organization and as such requires ability to work in a high visibility role with business leaders, Sales, Delivery and other cross-functional internal organizations.

The Project Engineer must possess strong Microsoft computer skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience; ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, outside clients and vendors.

The Project Engineer supports client engagements under the leadership and direction of Sr. Managers and Principal Consultants. He/She supports the communication of technical considerations and impact of custom solutions to clients’ identified business problems to client representatives, and also works independently on smaller technical projects generally involving a single technology area, when directed by a Sr. Manager, Principal or senior Consultant, and will manage and take ownership of internal as well as customer projects in such a way that each project is accomplished to the satisfaction of the customer.

With direction, will take appropriate steps to ensure that Statements of Work are on schedule, quality assured and within budget. He/She will ensure all flow-down requirements are managed to overall project scope. Individuals in this position will rely on technical experience and understanding to ensure engineering milestones are achievable and aligned to solution end-state.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree and two or more years of work experience in IPT (preferably Cisco UC) implementation.
• Skilled user of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, Sharepoint and text editors.
• Knowledge of IP Telephony and related services and products such as VOIP, MPLS, CPE, Managed Services, Hosted IPT
• Ability to work in 24/7 support model and after regular business hours to support customer implementations

Desired Skills:

• CAPM or PMP Certification
• Experience with Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Systems related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to manage competing and conflicting priorities.
• Detail-oriented and ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Experience working in dynamic and fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a self-directed work team.
• Training and experience in project leadership.
• Ability to quickly learn internal tools and processes.
